"Celebrating Dr. King"

Sunday's Gospel: John 2:1-11
This Sunday, we will be celebrating the life and spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr., whose message is more relevant than ever. A man of great faith, Dr. King reminds us during this Epiphany season that "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only Light can do that."

for an inspiring message and uplifting music
Tomorrow, thousands will come together across the U.S. to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the 2017 Women’s March on Washington.

In a show of solidarity with the national anniversary march, an official “sister” march will be taking place tomorrow morning in Saugatuck/Douglas, beginning at Beery Field in Douglas and marching over the bridge into Saugatuck, ending at Lucy’s Little Kitchen.

Once again this year, we will begin the day with an intention-setting service at Douglas UCC at 10 a.m., then walk together to Beery Field tand begin marching at 11 a.m.. We hope you will join us.

Thank you to all who helped make last Sunday's Pancake Breakfast such a success!  We are especially grateful to John Willming (pictured left) for facilitating, and thank you to all who helped: Tim Schwartz and Larry LaBine; Fred Hamlin; Wendy Hamlin; Alan Weathers; Sidney Matheis; Larry Fuerst and Sue Scott; Dick Lucier.  Also, thank you to P.K.'s Lighthouse Cafe for providing the coffee. We collected $124 in love offerings, too! Thank you!  More photos on our church's Facebook page.

TONIGHT: PFLAG Holland/Lakeshore Meeting
Jamie Lynn Hemphill Tells Her Story
Tonight, Jamie Lynn Hemphill will be sharing her story of transitioning from male to female. "I am becoming the person I have been on the inside my entire life, and now I can let the world know it", she stated in a 2017 article in Between the Lines. After transitioning, Hemphill began administering a Facebook site, Faces for Equality, where transgender individuals and others can connect and share their stories.

PFLAG meets on the ground floor of Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Avenue, across the street from Holland Hospital. We will begin with a business meeting and support at 7:00 pm. After a time for refreshments at 8 pm, the program will begin at 8:15 pm. Bring a snack to share, if you can.

Prior to the PFLAG meeting, Jamie Lynn Hemphill will also attend Gender SAFE (Supporting All For Equality), which meets 6:00 to 7:00 pm, also on the ground floor of Grace Episcopal Church. This is a support group. We are open and welcoming to all people who are or who love someone who is transgender or gender diverse (TGD). We also welcome those who are gender affirmative and who are interested in learning about the TGD community. We hope you will join us.

Our Church Directory is being updated for 2019. Please visit the “Directory Kiosk” on the Friendship Hall table to review your information, make changes/additions, or to add yourself as a new listing. Thank you to Mike VerMerris for facilitating this for us.
We are seeking volunteers who are willing to shovel snow outside the church on Sunday mornings this winter.  If you can help, please sign the sheet in the Friendship Hall. Thanks!
(We have hired a young man to shovel from Monday thru Saturday).
Snow Closings - Should we ever need to cancel a Sunday service due to snow this winter, we will post an announcement on the scroll of WZZM, Channel 13. We will also post closings on our church's Facebook page:
