In Sunday's Gospel, Jesus continues to call his disciples, telling fishermen Simon and Andrew, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." What did Jesus mean by this? Is he really instructing us to go and 'catch' people for God? Maybe he had something much deeper in mind. Come join us on Sunday as we explore the meaning of this Gospel message together.
PLEASE JOIN US THIS SUNDAY AT 10 AM

followed by our 2nd Sunday of the Month POTLUCK
We at Douglas UCC are saddened to share the news that our beloved church member, Carl Jennings, died on February 3rd at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. Carl and his husband of 50 years, Larry Gammons, helped establish Saugatuck/Douglas as a gay-friendly tourist destination when they opened the Douglas Dunes Resort almost 40 years ago. Carl was also a founding member of West Shore Aware. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and for his enormous generosity to our church and community-at-large.
A visitation will be held on Sunday at Dykstra Funeral Home in Saugatuck from 4 to 7 p.m., and a Memorial Service will take place at Douglas UCC on Monday at 1 p.m.
This Sunday is our "2nd Sunday of the Month" Potluck. Please bring a dish to share.
We are also in need of two people to help clean up afterwards.
If you can help, please contact Karen Clark at firstname.lastname@example.org

THANK YOU, HANNAH!
One of our youngest Douglas UCC churchgoers, Hannah Huggett, wrote this beautiful poem inspired by Pastor Sal's sermon last Sunday:
'My walk is Love'
Love begins in YOU, today.
Love the way God loves, for that is The Way of Jesus. Give the way Mother Earth gives, and you will recognize your blessings, and you may share all earthly and spiritual resources. Care the way Love does, and your compassion will lead you to take care of the poor and forgive, often. See with the eyes of Love, and you will appreciate diversity, And you will see who you truly are in the Light. Feel with the heart of God, and you will discover the strength and the courage to answer the call To speak truth to power, fight for the oppressed, the marginalized, the hated And you will love with a love of no bounds Intimately close to the one who made you Connected through your awareness of the Light inside you Never, never can you be separate from this Love You are always in Love, a child of Love, a conduit of Love, and when You choose to let the energy flow, and yourself to grow in the deep experience of who you truly are, You will have the courage to be All that God has created you to be.
Today the call is to fight for the marginalized, Everyone who is seen and treated as 'less' and 'other' And heal the divisions in today's nation and world, Heal our beautiful Earth, whose life is ours, and our lives our Earth's. To BE and LIVE the way God created us to be Is to walk The Way of Jesus, who said we could do the things he did And greater.
Love is Love, Love is for All. Love is giving and Love is kind. Love does not boast, or envy, or try to bind. Love liberates, Love frees. Love is alive in me, God calling me to be all i am created to be to discover God, Love, inside of me, And love Now, today, in Love's Way. i am a part of something so much bigger than what I have always perceived to be, 'me.' i am not apart from Love, i am a part of Love. Now, i wake up and i walk, and my walk is Love, The walk of The Way, to the edge, with Jesus.
To My Church Family and Friends...
Thank you all so much for your prayers and well wishes following my recent motor vehicle accident. Your outpouring of love, kind thoughts, and phone calls have meant so much to me as I now go through the healing & recovery process. No way in a million years would I have ever thought this incident would occur just a mere two weeks removed from our breakfast, but I can report that I am on the mend; and I am very lucky, as circumstances could have been much worse. God has definitely been watching over me. You all mean so much to me, and it is very comforting to know that we have such caring friends in our community of faith here at Douglas UCC. That very caring, faith, love, and support from you sustains me in this time, and carries me through for even quicker healing. Again, thank you so much; and I promise that very soon you will see me sitting among you once again in the pews -- grateful to you, and to God!
With heartfelt appreciation,
We are seeking volunteers who are willing to shovel snow outside the church on Sunday mornings this winter. If you can help, please sign the sheet in the Friendship Hall. Thanks! (We have hired a young man to shovel from Monday thru Saturday).
Snow Closings - Should we ever need to cancel a Sunday service due to snow this winter, we will post an announcement on the scroll of WZZM, Channel 13. We will also post closings on our church's Facebook page: www.facebook.com/douglasucc
