VNews - Cardiovascular Device Testing News, brought to you by ViVitro Labs

Gerry's Welcome

I'm writing from Singapore as we prepare for tomorrow's opening of Asia PCR.

It is conference season and our team is busy preparing for events in Singapore, California, and Stuttgart.  I hope you'll be able to attend one and meet us and our regional sales agents.

Our cardiovascular pioneers series is very popular.  It's an honour to meet and speak with so many leaders in this exciting and important field of research. Wei Sun provides great insight on using computation models for TAVR stress testing.

QA/RA Director, Vesna Janic and Gerry examine a VIA.

This issue is full of tips, including CAPAs and an interesting FAQ on combining two pulse duplicators.
Thanks for taking the time to read our Vnews.

Best wishes for a healthy and successful 2016

Team from University of Free State, South Africa learns how to image flow using ultrasound on ViVitro pulse duplicator.

FAQ: Benefits of Leasing Test Equipment

ViVitro Labs customers can now lease, rent or purchase cardiovascular test equipment.

While renting or leasing test equipment is relatively commonplace in a variety of industries, medical device manufacturers have preferred to purchase test equipment outright.

The medical industry is now discovering the benefits of leasing/renting test equipment.  These benefits include:
  • Try before buying
  • Free up cash flow
  • Latest Equipment Offerings
  • Maintenance

TIP: Using the ViVitro Labs Pulse Duplicator for Right Heart & Full Heart Simulation
By Marshal Kilduff

Two Pulse Duplicators connected to test full heart conditions.

Clients often ask if the Pulse Duplicator can be used for Right Heart and Full Heart applications. Laboratory Technician, Marshall Kilduff, has created a document with suggested changes to the Model Left Heart flow loop configuration to enable right heart testing. The document also describes how to connect two Pulse Duplicators to allow full heart testing.

TIP: How to effectively resolve CAPA in an Accredited Lab

By Vesna Janic, RQA in GLP

One of the key aspects of ISO 17025 Quality Management System (QMS) is the Corrective and Preventive Action process (CAPA). The standard requires that we have a policy (which is part of our Quality Manual) and standard operating procedure (SOP) for handling CAPAs. In addition, a clear designation of the authority for monitoring and implementing CAPAs has to be identified.
