The start of university symbolizes the beginning of another year full of knowledge, adventures and many memories. It's also the start of term for the new Executive Board of swimsa, currently consisting of 8 amazing individuals giving their all to make sure your voice is heard: Danaé (VPI a.i.), Luca (VPA a.i.), Annina (T), Aline (VPX), Sven (VPG a.i.), Chloé (VPE a.i.), Faizan (GS a.i.) and Erica (VPC a.i.).
We have already started preparing for the upcoming year where we aspire to have an environment where everyone feels heard, is able to nourish their ideas and has the platform to transform them into amazing projects. The International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) holds its biannual general assembly (GA) meeting from 1st of 7th of March 2023 in Tallinn, Estonia. Komplementäre und Integrative Medizin (KIM)
Komplementäre und Integrative Medizin (KIM) wird von einem Grossteil der Schweizer Bevölkerung genutzt und ist im Schweizer Gesundheitssystem gut verankert. So hat die KIM auch einen festen Bestandteil im Lernzielkatalog der Humanmedizin. Mithilfe dieser Online-Umfrage möchten wir die Einstellung von Medizinstudierenden zur Komplementären und Integrativen Medizin in der Schweiz und im medizinischen Curriculum erfragen. Die Umfrage ist anonym und wird an die Medizinstudierenden aller Universitäten in der Schweiz versendet.
Ich wäre Dir sehr dankbar, wenn du Dir 5-10 min Zeit für die Teilnahme an dieser Umfrage nimmst. Du leistest somit nicht nur einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Beurteilung, inwiefern die Komplementärmedizin bereits integriert ist, Du hilfst mir ausserdem sehr bei meiner Masterarbeit. Zudem kannst Du an einer Verlosung von 3 Amazon-Gutscheinen zu je 100 CHF teilnehmen.

The registration for an exchange in the next season (from April 2023 till March 2024) took place between March and June 2022. The registered students received their confirmation mail in September. Therefore, we can now announce the left-over spots for the next season.

T4all 2022 (Training 4 all) - Waving through Empowerment Aline Pinto Monteiro, Vice President for Exchanges 22/23
At the beginning of September I had the chance to attend the 10th edition of T4all in Oeiras, Portugal where I participated at the TNT (training new trainers). Previous participants of TNTs had told me that this is probably one of the most unique experiences within IFMSA and I can only confirm that they were more than right. During five days of workshops the 11 participants from all over Europe acquired knowledge on how to design training sessions which ended with them delivering their first session on their own to become an official IFMSA trainer. Thank you ANEM Portugal and our amazing trainers for guiding us during this experience.

Death – CCEAM Fall Semester 2022 Committee on Cultural Competence and Ethical Awareness in Medicine
Hi all, it’s us from the Committee on Cultural Competence and Ethical Awareness in Medicine! This semester we have organized events on the topic of death in cultures at the University of Basel to widen your horizon. (German only).
On November 1st (18:15), we will welcome a theologist, who will discuss death and rites in the big three world religions. After that, they will talk about two personal experiences with customs in Asia and Africa.
On December 1st (18:15),, we will welcome a palliative physician who will give us an introduction in transcultural end-of-life care. Later, they will present a real case and explain the measures taken.

Digital Trends Survey 2022 der FMH Goldsponsor - FMH
2022 hat die FMH den dritten «Digital Trends Survey» durchgeführt. Der «Digital Trends Survey» zeigt Nutzungsmuster, Anwendungsverbreitung sowie die Bedürfnisse der Ärzteschaft und der Bevölkerung hinsichtlich neuer digitaler Anwendungen in der ambulanten Gesundheitsversorgung auf. Der Schwerpunkt der diesjährigen Umfrage lag auf jenen digitalen Anwendungen, welche die Nachsorge und Prävention unterstützen. Die aus dem «Digital Trends Survey» gewonnenen Erkenntnisse dienen der FMH und anderen Akteuren im Gesundheitswesen, den zukünftigen Kurs des digitalen Wandels zu begleiten und mitzugestalten.

En 2022, la FMH a réalisé pour la troisième fois l’étude « Digital Trends Survey », dont l’objectif est de connaître la diffusion des applications numériques de santé auprès de la population et des médecins du secteur ambulatoire, d’en apprendre davantage sur l’utilisation qu’ils font de ces outils et de recueillir leur avis. Cette troisième édition a mis l’accent sur les applications numériques qui soutiennent la prévention et le suivi. Les résultats du « Digital Trends Survey » permettent à la FMH et à d’autres acteurs de la santé de suivre de près la transition numérique grâce à des données solides et de contribuer à façonner son évolution pour qu’elle réponde au mieux aux besoins identifiés.

The Swiss Medical Students’ Association is the umbrella organisation for all Swiss med students. Her members are all the 10 Fachschaften/associations and projects like Achtung Liebe, marrow, METIS, Teddybärspital etc. Twice per year, she organises the SMSC (= Swiss Medical Students’ Conference) with students from all parts of Switzerland.
