Hopefully you’re still enjoying the warm weather. It is still a long time until the next semester begins which comes with exciting news - on the 21st-23rd October, the next edition of the SMSC will be taking place in Fribourg! In this swimsagram issue, you can learn more about the topic of the SMSC as well as the IFMSA August Meeting which took place in Istanbul.
At the end of this month, the term of our current Executive Board (EB) members is coming to an end after an intensive year. Despite our term being - at least in the beginning - still heavily affected by the pandemic and pandemic-related restrictions, we were able to achieve many goals as a team. We were able to steer swimsa into the direction of meaningful youth representation. We were able to handle difficult situations and ongoing uncertainties. And - we were able to grow as a team.
Each of us contributed to swimsa in small steps and giant leaps. Thanks to the local Organisation Committees in Lausanne and Lugano, we could enjoy two unforgettable SMSCs. We could support various events and organisations with the help of the swimsa Fonds and held two successful Delegates’ Assemblies. We welcomed new members and tackled the membership criteria, and fostered the relationships to our sponsors. We could publish the National Comparative Survey on the differences between the medical faculties and send delegates to various international events. Students could again begin to (ex)change the world through swimsa Exchanges and their stories could be read in various places.
This would all not have been possible without the impressive work of the swimsa Internals and our sponsors. We would like to thank all of you wholeheartedly for your incredible support! Thanks to you, swimsa can continue to advocate for you, dear students, and to hopefully convince more people that it’s worth joining the swimsa family.

Great news: there are still open positions for the Term 22/23, starting on the 1st of September 2022.
Liaison Officer to the Federal Office of Public Heath (LO-BAG/OFSP): Do you want to represent swimsa in the Federal Office of Public Health and directly contribute to how the medical world of tomorrow should look like? Are you motivated to speak in the name of all medical students? Then this job is for you.
Liaison Officer to the National Students Organisation (LO-VSS/UNES/USU): Are you willing to communicate with students from all over Switzerland and all fields of studies? Are you interested in advocating for swimsa’s interests on a national level? Don’t hesitate to apply!
National Exchanges Treasurer: Do you have a hidden love for finances and being part of an amazing team? Don’t look any further and send in your candidature!
General Secretary (GS): Do you have a knack for organisational tasks and want to support swimsa by organising the meetings, working closely among others on the Delegates’Assembly, all while being part of the amazing Executive Board? Perfect!

The General Assembly August Meeting of the IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students Associations) took place in Istanbul, Turkey from the 1st to the 7th of August. swimsa was represented by 9 motivated medical students that took part in different sessions, discussions, votes, workshops, trainings and of course the socials. As always, the swimsa delegation served Raclette during the National Food and Drinks Party and always had some chocolate to share with the rest of the delegates. It was a very intense and amazing experience for all participants. If you are interested in joining a meeting like that contact Rahel, the Vice-President for Global Affairs (vpg@swimsa.ch).

Report of an Incoming from Romania
I'm Mădălina, a 6th year medical student from Romania and I had the opportunity to take part in a Professional Exchange in Geneva, Switzerland.
I got the chance to meet amazing people: the other incomings, the Geneva and Zürich Local Exchanges Officers (LEOs) and also everyone at the hospital. My tutors were great and I really felt as part of the team every time.
We also organised day trips during the weekends and we got to enjoy how beautiful Switzerland is, by visiting Lausanne, Montreux, Gruyères, Bern and Zurich.
Switzerland is a fascinating country and it's a great chance to get to see at least a part of it!

This is your local association for the med students at your university. They organise social events, parties, represent you to your faculty and fight for your medical education.
The Swiss Medical Students’ Association is the umbrella organisation for all Swiss med students. Her members are all the 10 Fachschaften/associations and projects like Achtung Liebe, marrow, METIS, Teddybärspital etc. Twice per year, she organises the SMSC (= Swiss Medical Students’ Conference) with students from all parts of Switzerland. The International Federation of Medical Students' Associations is the umbrella organisation for all the national associations of more than 120 different countries worldwide! They gather twice per year in the so-called General Assembly (=GA), where 1000 students come together to discuss on global health issues and exchange ideas. swimsa is always represented by a Swiss delegation. https://ifmsa.org
