Constant Contact Breakfast Series
How To Use E-mails and Social Media To Grow Your Business

Guest Speaker: Mark Brodsky

Driving Sales Through the Roof!
On April 16th, the second in a series of Constant Contact workshops was conducted to introduce Chamber members on how to use e-mails and social media to grow their business.  Mark  Brodsky,  gave a very interesting presentation to about 30 members and guests at the Royal Canadian Legion in downtown Stoney Creek.  The old way of advertising your business was to take out an ad in a newspaper or magazine…the new way is social media, targeting the people who already know you.  Engagement is the new word of mouth.  If you’re authentic with your message, it gives you a distinct advantage.
A number of e-mail campaigns were discussed such as welcome e-mails, offers for discounts, events, announcements etc.  But remember “less is more”… you need to focus on what action you want people to take.  Pictures can also generate a lot more interest than text.  But use pictures sparingly, have great comments, and extend your message to every system you’re on.  The three words that rule decision making in the e-mail world are, Now (I’ll read it now) ..Later (I’ll read it later)…Never (delete).  Keep your brand consistent and remember you have 2 seconds and a couple of words to get someone’s attention so they open up your e-mail.  So find your best days and your best times  … 3 to 5 times a week for social media and once a month for an e-mail.

Garlic Democarcy

Garlic Democracy is an upstart Italian restaurant chain in Canada where the customer pays one set price for an array of pizza and pasta toppings. The first two Garlic Democracy store locations just opened up in early March in Stoney Creek and Orillia.  The concept is simple.  We cater to whatever your taste buds desire.  One set price, unlimited toppings, made fresh - right in front of you.

Garlic Democracy is a great option for those wanting a quick bite to eat or for those that want to relax at a nice place.  The portions are sure to leave you full!   No one ever leaves hungry! We have also catered to the office lunch and dinner crowd.  Call us for our "party specials" and catering options.

Message from the Executive Director

As we finally move into spring, your Chamber has many great networking opportunities planned for you.

We are receiving positive feedback for our educational breakfast series. Many are commenting that they have received very good information as a result of attending. There are two more seminars left for you to attend. May 14th will focus on the use of Social Media, and June 18th will focus on the new regulations for the use of online marketing.

Our annual Citizen of the Year event is well underway with a grand banquet on May 22nd at Winona Vine Estates. This is your chance to meet the individuals and business who have contributed to make our Stoney Creek community a wonderful place to live and work.

Booths are still available for the upcoming joint Trade Show, May 28th. Watch your mail for details regarding booth rentals. The show is open to all Chamber members and members of the public, admission is free. With four Chambers participating it should offer a great opportunity for networking.

We have been taking registration for our annual Chamber golf tournament, June 26th, sponsored by Stoney Creek Furniture at Southbrook Golf & Country Club.  Don’t delay, we have many already registered!
