FC+ UPDATES AND FUNDING

1. 1st edition of the FinCEAL Plus network mapping now available
We've gathered together a listing of networks, institutions and agencies relevant for STI cooperation with Europe, Africa, Asia and the LAC region. If you are looking for information sources or potential partners in the regions, please have a look! The mapping is a work in progress that will be periodically updated. Download the mapping on our website

2. FinCEAL Plus continuation and upcoming activities
We are happy to announce that the Ministry of Education and Culture has awarded continuation funding to the FinCEAL Plus Project for 2017 - 2018. Our Travel Grants, Event Grants and Project Preparatory Funding will be available again in 2017. By researchers' request, we will also launch a new funding modality: Research Visit Grants to support short term research stays in Finland. Follow our communications in early 2017 for more information on upcoming calls!

3. UniPID-FinCEAL+ STI Crossroads Seminar: FinCEAL+ Focus Asia Workshop Report
The workshop featured speakers and case examples of their research cooperation between universities and industry and other stakeholders in several regions in Asia including India, Southeast Asia, China and Japan. Read more

4. News from FinCEAL+ Grantees


A winner in the 2015 FinCEAL Infobank Competition (Asia) was Roseanna Avento from the University of Eastern Finland and the grant awarded was used by project researcher Jannina Viljakainen to visit Nepal.  FinCEAL+ awarded a grant to the University of Eastern Finland to assist with the development of the research proposal with a mission to Nepal which was recently conducted in November 2016 where the activities on the proposal were fine-tuned and time-schedules finalised with the project team. Public stakeholder consultation on Horizon 2020
The European Commission has launched a public stakeholder consultation which will feed into the interim evaluation of Horizon 2020. This interim evaluation will help improve the functioning of Horizon 2020, and will also be an important element in preparations of a next EU research and innovation programme. More information

Roadmap for ASEAN-EU S&T Cooperation
Scientific cooperation is part of the partnership between the two regions since the 16th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting in Nuremberg, Germany in 2007, scientific cooperation has also featured at the latest 20th EU-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in relation to issues such as water resources and environmental protection under the theme “Towards Strategic Partnership for Peace, Stability and Prosperity” (July 2014). Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Surveillance in Southeast Asia (State of Play and Policy Note)
The aim of this report is to highlight AMR activities in ASEAN member states and to identify key players within each country, in order to facilitate the establishment of a coherent strategy for collaboration. In order to identify key areas, we have reached out to each member state and identified the key organisation(s) supporting the national action plan or activity and scientific experts in the field of AMR.
