Starting the New Year Bright
Senior Living Community Lights the Way
As 2017 came to an end Energize NY completed its first commercial PACE financing project in Albany County, at the active retirement community Shaker Pointe at Carondelet, in the city of Watervliet. The Shaker Pointe Community sits on 30 acres of land, much of which is environmentally protected. To further its commitment to environmental sustainability Shaker Pointe used 5-year PACE financing to fund the installation of over 3,000 high efficiency LED lighting fixtures. These improvements are expected to result in a 16% reduction in energy consumption, which will save Shaker Pointe $9,000 annually above the cost of Energize NY PACE financing.

“Albany County is proud to partner with Energize NY to enable building owners in the County to make these critical energy efficiency investments. The $163,000 PACE-financed upgrade at Shaker Pointe will reduce the facility’s carbon footprint and energy costs,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. “We believe this project can serve as a model for other property owners in Albany County who want to make their buildings more sustainable and lower their energy bills.”

“Energize NY PACE Financing allowed us to replace thousands of light fixtures in the interior and exterior of our 30-acre senior living community.  Our residents are delighted with the improved lighting that adds so much to their comfort and security.  They are also very proud to be part of an energy saving initiative that is so significant in preserving resources for the broader community as well as for their children and grandchildren,” added Sister Lauren Van Dermark, project coordinator.
