Collaboration works. People know it, and the science supports it. In this report, we present analysis from 23 major planning exercises, covering a range of industries and across 8 counties over 3 continents. In the vast majority of cases, collaboration is seen as the key driver in shaping the future outcomes. Future iQ Partners has presented the ‘Economics of Collaboration’ report to provide a framework of theory and practical experience regarding how to build meaningful collaboration. This publication is offered as a resource, for people to use in their own work and planning efforts.

Mediterranean PORT Project

The Program Maritime Italy – France 2014-2020 involves the regions of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, belonging to the Italian and French territories (Tuscany, Liguria, Sardinia and Corsica). These regions, and their associated ports and shipping routes, represent a major commercial zone and economic driver of the regional economy.

The main challenges have been identified as Smart Growth, Sustainable Growth and Inclusive Growth. Future iQ Partners worked on this project with Italian partners, Klink, to lead the regional engagement processes with key stakeholders and regional leaders in Italy, Sardinia and Corsica. This identified priority actions, which will input into the larger PORT project.

Task Force LIMA Defense Initiative

The Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (JSMC), located in Allen County, Ohio (Lima) is the only Government-Owned, Contractor-Operated (GOCO) production facility in the United States Department of Defense. The plant, which has been in operation since 1941, serves a vital role in the nation’s defense by providing a number of heavy combat vehicle lines to the military, including the Abrams combat tank. Future iQ Partners worked with Allen County to design and facilitate a unique Action planning process, which involved detailed Network Mapping, A Regional Asset Inventory and a Regional Collaboration Action Plan.

Cities of the Future

‘Cities of the Future – Anticipating Trends and Possibilities’ is a research piece, developed by Future iQ Partners as one of a series of future thinking papers. It is based on scientific research and trend information. This research has been drawn from various areas into one engaging and visual thought piece, which shows trends that have the potential for widespread adoption over the next two decades.

The areas of Energy, Infrastructure, Ecology/Sustainability, Health, Education and Community are explored in detail and are presented in a series of visual images. This information is presented to encourage people to explore how various trends could play out during this timeframe and to consider the potential real world implications and possibilities.

Monterrey Institute of Technology Student Future Game Sessions

The Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education is one of the largest private multi-campus universities in Latin America. Based in Monterrey, Mexico, the Institute has 31 campuses in 25 cities throughout the country and is famous for becoming the first university to be connected to the Internet in Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world. The Institute has graduated prominent and influential members in several areas, particularly among the Latin American business community, including current President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto. Overall, the Institute is the only Mexican university besides the National Autonomous University of Mexico to be ranked at the 2010 QS World University Rankings, in which it was classified as 65th ranking university worldwide.

In 2014, the Monterrey Institute of Technology contacted Future iQ Partners with regard to The Future Game and the prospect of using it with their students. A pilot project resulted in very positive feedback from the students who played The Future Game, once again proving that this simulation learning tool is extremely valuable to the decision making skills of young people.
