AGWA’s Voluntary Guides celebrate ten years’ involvement with Sculpture by the Sea
6–23 March 2015 | Cottesloe Beach | FREE

This year’s Sculpture by the Sea at Cottesloe Beach marks a ten year involvement by AGWA’s Voluntary Gallery Guides. The Guides have been active in their support of this significant cultural event from helping in visitor information through to providing tactile tours for the vision-impaired.

Sculpture by the Sea is a highlight on the Perth arts and events calendar and AGWA’s Voluntary Gallery Guides are delighted to be involved again in 2015 and celebrating such an important milestone," said AGWA Guides Co-ordinator Andrea Tenger.
This is the seventh year that Sculpture by the Sea Tactile Tours are available for vision-impaired visitors and their carers. As part of the Gallery’s Sensational Art program, together AGWA and Sculpture by the Sea provide training that allows the Guides to deliver informed and inspiring tours which introduce vision-impaired visitors to new ways of experiencing contemporary sculpture.
In 2001, the Art Gallery of Western Australia designed the first Sensational Art program. Vision-impaired visitors and their families had the opportunity to explore sculptures through touch with a Voluntary Gallery Guide.
The Sensational Art program is now a regular part of the Gallery’s public programs and vision-impaired visitors can book a tour that allows them to interact with specially selected three-dimensional artworks on display.

Sculpture by the Sea Tactile Tours commence at 10am on the following days:
Tues 10, Wed 11, Thurs 12 March 2015
Tues 17, Wed 18, Thurs 19 March 2015
