This Spring I co-taught at Stanford University with writer Jeff Chang on his recent book, Who We Be: A Cultural History of Race in Post-Civil Rights America. This highly anticipated course asked how do Americans see race now? Do we see each other any more clearly than before? Through perspectives of activists, artists, curators, and others, class videos are online. I recently had an online feature at Dailyserving International. This article written by Vivian Sming discusses recent projects, social engagement, and my recent years working in Korea, this summer as Artist-in-Residence at the Seoul Museum of Art.

This fall I was awarded the 2016 Creative Work Fund in Visual Arts. I’ll be continuing long-term work next year with South of Market Community Action Network. The award celebrates the role of artists as problem solvers and the making of art as a profound contribution to intellectual inquiry and to the strengthening of communities.

Finally, this year I received the 2016 Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Artist-In-Residence Award. In conjunction I recently gave the final talk at the Graduate Program in Visual + Critical Studies Forum at California College of the Arts. I will continue various YBCA projects into 2017. More to come.
