Dear EdgeRyder,
The largest think tank in the world, known as Edgeryders, is entering a new phase: on the
14th-15th of June we are going to bring together European educators, artists, entrepreneurs, innovators and activists in Strasbourg for a conference and debate on the future of Europe in our fast-changing times. We are identifying not just individuals, but the networks at the heart of our next phase of transformation. People will see the faces they've only met online, and engage with European institutions representatives to help understand and build the new future we all hope for.
We would like to invite you to take part in this event! You have been an active voice in the community or have shown interest in joining Edgeryders at our big meetup! As a result, our team at the Council of Europe wants your input brought to CoE and EU policymakers' attention. Are you up for this? We have plenty of ideas on how you could play an active role at the event, but because we try to bring as many community members as possible to Strasbourg, the first step would be to tell us if you can and want to participate, and tell us fast :-) (we work on the principle: first come, first served).
Your trip to and back from Strasbourg, as well as accommodation and meals for the two conference days will be covered by the Council of Europe, as part of a
shared commitment. In the weeks running to the event,
we would ask you to stay active in the community. It's easy, just follow these steps:
-
be signed up on the platform
-
make sure you have at least 2 mission reports uploaded
-
if you already have those, please continue to join discussions in the former and upcoming campaigns, by posting new reports and by commenting on other Edgeryders' profiles and mission reports
-
let your peers and people in your networks find out about Edgeryders, spread the word on what you fabulous young people are doing; if you don't know where to start, just follow the team on our social media channels
You can also help us select new people to invite! If you know someone that really should be at the conference, invite them to Edgeryders and encourage them to do the above. On the platform, on each user profile and below each mission report there's this red button saying "I WANT TO MEET THIS PERSON!". Click the button to tell us you think someone is interesting and should be considered for an invitation.
How does it work?
-
You confirm that you are coming and inform us of your name, address and nationality (needed for finance purposes).
Note: If by any chance you're not a citizen of one of the Council of Europe member states, or you are not in Europe at the time of the conference, we will not be able to cover your expenses.
-
You choose the two nights that we are going to cover for you. The options are 13th and 14th (recommended if you are coming from far away, as the conference starts at 14.00 on the 14th) or 14th and 15th. We will make the reservation and the payment for those two nights directly.
-
You choose your preferred form of accommodation, single room vs. shared room. If you confirm within a couple days we may be able to get you a single room: however, we strongly encourage you to share. It is more fun and cheaper, so we can accommodate more people on our limited budget. Send us information under 1, 2 and 3 by replying to this email.
-
You schedule your trip. There will be a very cool unconference in Strasbourg on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th (see the whole event announcement), so we'd love it if you stayed for the whole weekend. You have to cover yourself the extra hotel nights, but we can help by recommending a few hostels/hotels.
-
You book your own flight/train tickets. Do it as soon as possible: by buying cheap tickets well in advance you will enable us to pay for the trips of more members of the Edgeryders community to come. Send us the itinerary within a week of confirming, so that we can finalize your place at the conference (if the total cost is over 300EUR, please check with us before buying it) . We will refund your ticket within 30 days after the conference itself. To get the refund, you need to (a) send us a copy of your ticket; (b) send us an invoice from the travel agency; (c) sign the reimbursement form that we will give you in Strasbourg. If you can't afford to front the expenses for the ticket get in touch and we will find a solution!
