A Note from our Pastors...

Jazz Vespers is one of our outreach programs to the immediate community around us.  A Lake Forest Park community member (who has also been connected to another important ministry of our church, Pepitas Preschool) shared this reflection about her involvement with Jazz Vespers over the past three years:
“Watching and listening to musicians at the peak of their artistic expression inspires in me spiritual creativity and curiosity.  We live so much of our lives improvising; Jazz Vespers reminds me that this is accepted and even encouraged.  I find myself asking more questions, grateful for process and possibility as opposed to arrival and answers.  The reflections offered at the close of Jazz Vespers provide words to the mystery and wonder evoked in my heart and remind me that I am not alone.”
Most of the 50 or so people who regularly attend Jazz Vespers are not from our Sunday morning crowd. In the Jazz Vespers community, we have brought together a beautiful mix of LFPPC, Lake Forest Park residents and others from the surrounding areas of Bothell, Shoreline, Kenmore and Seattle.
So far over $500 has come in towards are goal of 10K by November 18th. Thank you for your faithful giving. Would you consider a special gift to help keep this ministry going?

Nehemiah: Rebuilding and God's Calling to Us
Starting October 23rd led by Anne Kalkbrenner. No class on November 27 (Thanksgiving weekend)

The setting of Nehemiah involves a group of people who have been through a huge “pandemic” of change, including a war, an exile, and now an opportunity to return to Jerusalem and rebuild both the physical walls of the city as well as their spiritual identity as a community of believers who seek God. Although the details of our “pandemic” differ – the need for vision and for direction about how to rebuild our lives and once again see God’s Gracious Hand at work in our generation remains the same. Come join us as we learn from the remarkable and humble leadership of a man who believed that nothing is too difficult for God.

Faith in Action
A 3-week series starting December 4th led by Donna Bensley. Do you wonder about the story behind the news? During this portion of the class, we will hear from several people in our community who came to the U.S. from distant places, such as Afghanistan and Ethiopia. They will share their stories and help us put our faith into action.

Love Your Neighbor

Food Pantry
Our Little Food Pantry is getting lots of action. Grab-and-Go items seem to be the most popular such as: granola bars, individual size nuts, pop-top cans, beans etc. Items that require significant preparation are less utilized. Donations can be left in the bin across from Fellowship Hall.

Neighbor-to-Neighbor
Neighbor-to-Neighbor is our Deacon's sponsored program to support our congregation members with meals or rides as needed. We currently have a larger number of folks willing to provide meals but would appreciate a few more volunteers to provide rides to occasional medical appointments. If you are able to help, please contact Rocky Meredith at 206.310.6399 or rocmer@comcast.net.

Prayer + Care
Please be in prayer for the following individuals: Garry Arnold, George Dewey, Hannah Tran, Waldher family, Kathryn Heley, Kathleen Tade, Robin Gabbert, Routh Family (Randy's mom), Loretta Edwards (for her daughter), Travis Zapalac (home and responding well to treatment), Bunnie Jorgensen (recent cancer diagnosis). Please contact the church office at 206-364-2712 or your pastors if you have prayer requests.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is now meeting monthly. If you would like to be part of this ministry and knit or crochet or if you know of someone going through a hard time that would enjoy receiving a Prayer Shawl, contact Anne Gowing at 206-910-8505.
