The Back Porch
A Note from our Pastors...
Dear LFPPC Church Family,

This past week, our own Jamie Henning shared a wonderful prayer from the Iona Community with me and I want to share it all with you. In so many ways, it speaks to this moment in the life our congregation. May you be blessed by its words.

In moving from summer sun to autumn glow,  Spirit of change, give us hope and courage.

In letting go of what we have known, Spirit of change, give us hope and courage.

In the shifting patterns of our lives, Spirit of change, give us hope and courage.

In embarking on new ventures, Spirit of change, give us hope and courage.

In the shifting confusion that swirls around us, Spirit of change, give us hope and courage.

In the hope of renewal and a better tomorrow, Spirit of change, give us hope and courage.

‘Spirit of change’, by Jan Berry

Sermon Series
This is our last week in our "Back to Basics" summer sermon series as we take a look at the essentials of faith from the reformed tradition. Starting labor day weekend, we will begin our new series "Atlas of the Heart".
Adult Education
Adult Education is Back! Join us this fall at 9am in Heritage Hall for study and discussion.

What does it mean to be the Church?
A four-week series starting September 18 led by Rod Robinson.

Nehemiah: Rebuilding and God's Calling to Us
Starting October 16th led by Anne Kalkbrenner. No class on November 27 (Thanksgiving weekend)

Faith in Action
A 3-week series starting December 4th led by Donna Bensley. Do you wonder about the story behind the news? During this portion of the class, we will hear from several people in our community who came to the U.S. from distant places, such as Afghanistan and Ethiopia. They will share their stories and help us put our faith into action.

A Time of Gratitude
After a season of difficult transition, we want to take a moment to publicly thank and express our sincere gratitude to our long-term staff members Jeanne Durham and Jaime Ledger. Cards will be put out on the Welcome Center desk for the congregation to sign and we will have a time of public recognition at our Sept. 4th worship service.
Volunteers Wanted
  • Musicians-- Particularly those with piano or guitar experience though other instruments welcome. See Jaime Henning for more information.
  • Sound and A/V-- We always need more volunteers to be trained to help with Sunday worship sound as well as the occasional funeral or special event.
Summer Office Hours
The Church Office will be typically open Monday-Wednesday 9 to 1pm and by appointment. **We appreciate your grace and understanding as we are understaffed at the moment and in the middle of hiring several positions. The quickest way to reach a staff member is by email. Voicemails are being checked periodically by Pastor Laura as she is able**

Prayer + Care
Our Little Food Pantry is getting lots of action this summer and our supplies are running low. Grab-and-Go items seem to be the most popular such as: granola bars, individual size nuts, pop-top cans, beans etc. Items that require significant preparation are less utilized. Donations can be left in the bin across from Fellowship Hall.
Covid19 Guidance
Masks are optional now optional in all spaces including the Pepitas Pre-School. A mask-only and distanced worship space is available in fellowship hall where the worship service is available on the screen for those who desire a higher-precaution worship space. Note: Following worship un-masked congregants from the Sanctuary may come downstairs for coffee and fellowship.
