The Back Porch
A Note from our Pastors...
Dear LFPPC Church Family,

My morning devotion today included this famous verse from Lamentations 3, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

These words have brought me great comfort through many seasons in my life. Sometimes when we are in the storm, we get stuck in fear, anxiety, and even grief. But when we slow down and remain curious, a new perspective often opens up and we are reminded of God's steady faithfulness throughout our lives.

As I think about this particular moment at LFPPC, I know that there is likely a mix of feelings---grief and nostalgia for the past and yet also hope, imagination, and openness to God's future for us all. Whatever we may be feeling, may we be tender, kind, and gracious to one another.

If you ever have any questions about our season of transition, please note my door is always open and I'm happy to sit and chat with you. In fact, I'm an extrovert and love talking to people. I'm aware there is a little bit of mis-information circulating (which is normal when congregations are anxious) but I would still nevertheless, appreciate the opportunity to clear things up if you have any concerns. Open and honest conversation is the key to a healthy congregation and its important we move forward together with integrity as we prepare ourselves to receive new pastoral leadership in the coming months.

His mercies never end...Great is God's faithfulness...

Many Blessings,
Pastor Laura
Meet Our New Worship Director
After interviewing several stellar candidates, we have discerned God's leading to our very own Tim Cromeenes to become LFPPC's next PT Worship Director. As you all know, Tim is a man of deep faith, musically gifted, and a joy to serve alongside. His mature understanding and theology of worship will be a blessing to our entire congregation. He also brings a commitment to intergenerational worship and we believe his creative ideas will help form all of us as disciples.
Here is our expected timeline for his onboarding:
  • Tim’s first day will be Monday 10/11 to shadow/overlap with Jamie for one week and onboard to the team
  • Jamie’s last Sunday leading worship and being our Interim Worship lead would be 10/16
  • Tim’s first Sunday leading worship would be 10/23
While we lament the loss of Jamie in this role, we give thanks for her service as our Interim Worship Leader and the many gifts she has shared with us all. Words can't express how much she has done to hold us together through both pandemic and transition. We are grateful that she will still stick around in worship—this time in a volunteer capacity and we will formally say "Thank you!" to her publicly on 10/16.
Jazz Vespers 2022-2023 Update
This July we celebrated three years of Jazz Vespers at LFPPC. We thank God for giving us the resources we need to sustain the past three years of this innovative ministry. Last year Jazz Vespers was funded through a grant from the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. We have come to the end of our grant money and are in between being eligible to apply for another round of grant funding. We would like to continue to offer Jazz Vespers at Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church and will be putting forward an opportunity to the church and the Jazz Vespers community to give financial gifts to allow us to continue this ministry until we are able to secure more grant monies. Thank you for prayerfully considering a contribution and be on the lookout for this opportunity coming soon.
Please contact Pastor Andrea ( with questions.

Pastor Nominating Process
October Update
The nominations process to the PNC(Pastor Nominating Committee) is now closed and LFPPC's Nominations Committee will meet next week to prayerfully discern a slate of PNC candidates with the hopes of bringing a PNC slate of candidates to the congregation for a vote in early November. Session will also be working this month to plan our congregational discernment process so that all will have an opportunity to participate in collaboratively seeking God's will for our next chapter. The discernment results will be given to the PNC so that they may write a job description/Ministry Information Form that aligns with the gifts and skills needed in our next pastor to do God's will for LFPPC.
