Empowering Schools: A Consultation of the Provisions of the Education (Scotland) Bill

Scottish Government are undertaking a consultation on the Education (Scotland) Bill which aims to create a school and teacher-led education system with improved parental and community engagement in school life and in learning outside of school. Colleagues from Glasgow Life will update on the Becoming a Mother in Scotland project. Additionally, in reponse to tutor requests for a stress relieving activity which they could share with learners, a therapist from COPE Scotland will present a short introduction to hand massage. 

Working Memory -
Impact on Learning

The course will look briefly at what working memory is but crucially it will get attendees to consider what demands they place on their service users in terms of memory and how they can adapt their practice.

At this session, we will visit and be shown around Glasgow Kelvin College (Easterhouse campus) and learn about provision both within the College and in the local communities.

Service users often tell us what they think we want to hear taking a long time to tease out meaningful impacts.Built to increase participation and awareness of service users' learning journeys, this session is aimed at building those first steps towards a learner's forum or for learners involvement in the planning and delivery of provision.

Regional Improvement Collaboratives

Schools across Scotland will now be able to draw on a range of expertise through six newly established Regional Improvement Collaboratives. Each one will be led by a Regional Improvement Lead and will work with schools, using all available evidence, to provide targeted advice and support to drive improvement.  Read more…

Funding

John Watson Trust

The John Watson Trust has announced that the first application deadline for 2018 will be the 29th January. The Trust awards grants for educational purposes to children and young people under the age of 21 who have a physical or learning disability or who are socially disadvantaged. Grants can cover expenses such as dyslexia tuition. Read more…
