We Are GCVS - February 2018 Update

Welcome to the GCVS February 2018 Newsletter!

Thursday the 22nd of February marked an important event with the delivery of the first budget by the new Glasgow City Council. Among the issues addressed by the budget will be extending the provision of free school meals to children in Primary 4, as well as dedicating £1m to piloting Participatory Budgeting.
Glasgow’s Third Sector plays a major role in fighting child poverty and empowering communities, so these developments by the new City Government are welcome as we look to develop our new Third Sector Concordat (Partnership Agreement) in the months to come, and to working as a Third Sector partner to shape the vision and plans for inclusive growth in the city.

Many Third Sector organisations will have been working hard in recent weeks to complete funding proposals for the Integrated Grant Fund for 2018-19.  Clearly the review of this fund will be a significant piece of work over the next year and we are keen to contribute feedback from the sector on what could and should change, so please get in touch to let us hear your views.
We want to build on the success of the Third Sector Summit in December and the asks of our Manifesto for Change from last year, to create the transformed relationship with Glasgow City Council that has been endorsed at the highest level.

Have a great month,
Liz McEntee
Director of External Affairs
Pupil Equity Funding - Third Sector Experiences

Our Everyone's Children project recently compiled some research into the experiences of Third Sector organisations in Glasgow of the procurement process and contracting with schools for Pupil Equity Funding (PEF).

It was interesting to get the views and opinions of some of the Third Sector organisations involved in this, as well as recommendations for future.

Laura Dover, Research Worker for the project, has written a great blog post - read it here!

Tackling Fraud Together - Update #2

The Tackling Fraud Together team have published another update on how the Tackling Fraud Together Project is progressing.
