CLD Team ......  Talking to Learners

We had a party!!  Glasgow Learners’ Party

"To start the festive season off in style, Norman and Colin (Glasgow Life) and Sallie and Karen (GCVS) hosted a party for learners and their tutors in the Albany Learning & Conference Centre on 18 November 2016 and what a fantastic event it turned out to be!

We had breakfast, followed by our version of “Speed Dating”, otherwise known as the “Get to meet you” activity where folk chatted and played a game about their favourite foods and interests. This activity resulted in much laughter and a certain amount of “cheating” amongst the participants!
Learners then shared their moving and inspiring stories and another group led us in song. We ended the party with an African drumming workshop led by the very talented Erick Mauricia who soon had us all enthusiastically drumming along with him.

As the party ended, an informal poll showed 96% of attendees saying that they had enjoyed the event and would like to attend another – great result!
The organisers' would like to sincerely thank everybody who attended and made this party such a success."

Your Turn!

On 14, 15 & 16 February there will be a roving Learners’ Consultation Roadshow.  Karen and Sallie will be on the road visiting groups of learners.  We want to find out what’s good to celebrate about community learning and how learners would like to get involved in future city-wide opportunities.  We’d like to involve staff to discuss support for learners’ involvement.

We would like to visit around eight projects  to engage with learners around the city.

Please let Karen know by 1 February if you would like to join in our roadshow.   We can provide refreshments and promise not to be too disruptive, ideally meeting learners at the beginning/end of their regular classes!
