Consultation Event on Funding Models for Early Learning & Childcare Expansion
Wednesday 20th June, 10am-1pm
The Albany Learning & Conference Centre

As part of the Early Learning and Childcare Service Model for 2020 consultation process, the Scottish Government would like to invite you to this free event to hear directly from you on the 'Funding Follows The Child' approach set out in the consultation paper.

Citywide Forum Family Support sub-group
Monday 18th June, 10am-12noon
The Albany Learning & Conference Centre

As part of the Glasgow City HSCP transformation agenda, the HSCP is seeking to shift the balance of care towards family support services. The Citywide Forum (Children, Young People and Families) is setting up a sub-group to ensure that the views of third sector organisations are heard.

The first meeting is 18th June and they will be held every six weeks. Any Citywide Forum member who is interested can join the sub-group. To express interest in the sub-group, email

North West Locality Family Support Mapping

The NW Children and Families Network are working in partnership with the  Glasgow North West Locality Planning Forum to gather information on family support available in the locality. Professionals working with parents in the North West are asked to complete a return on the service they provide by filling in the form here

Early Years Inclusion Fund Now Open for Applications

The Scottish Government's Early Learning & Childcare Inclusion Fund is now open to applications.

The ELC Inclusion Fund provides funding to ELC settings to support children with additional support needs (ASN) in Scotland to access their funded ELC entitlement. It funds staff working in ELC settings to receive appropriate training as well as resources, equipment and adaptations.

The ELC Inclusion Fund is funded by the Scottish Government and managed by Children in Scotland. More information here.

Innovation in Early Years Provision

As part of their Quality Action Plan for Early Learning and Childcare, the Scottish Government are looking to hear from funded ELC providers who are demonstrating innovation in some aspect of practice which benefits children’s development. More details and application form here.

'Power Up/Power Down' Project on the Voice of the Child in Family Court Actions

Scottish Women’s Aid and the Children and Young People’s Commissioner have worked together on a participatory project involving young people on how to improve the experience and outcomes for children affected by domestic abuse in family court actions relating to contact decisions.

Scottish Government consultation on Resource for Supporting Disabled Children, Young People and their Families 

The Scottish Government are seeking input from stakeholders who have experience working with disabled children and young people and their families on a proposed website and mobile app. Respond to the consultation here.
Consultation on Reform of the Rules Surrounding Disclosure of Criminal Convictions

Disclosure Scotland has launched a public consultation asking for feedback about proposals to simplify and modernise the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. The consultation is open for 12 weeks from the 25th April and the full paper can be downloaded here. 
Children and Young People's Wellbeing Resources

The Alliance has collated a number of resources to assist practitioners in supporting the wellbeing of children, young people and families:

Pre-Birth to Three Framework Training
Wednesday 20th June, 6.30pm - 9pm - Albany Centre

This session focuses on the importance of the earliest years for our youngest children and will look at staff roles in supporting the 4 key principles and the 9 features of Pre-Birth to Three in practice. This evening session will be led by staff from Early Years Scotland.

REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene course
Tues 26th June  9.30am  - 4.30pm - Albany Centre

This certificated course is supported by the Everyone’s Children project to help Third Sector organisations meet the requirements of the Glasgow Summer Holiday Food Programme. It is suitable for anyone whose work involves food preparation. Very small third sector organisations can apply for a free place by contacting

'One Good Adult' Resource: Launch Event
Friday 22nd June, 10am - 12.30pm - Glasgow Film Theatre

Glasgow HSCP Health Improvement staff in partnership with NHSGG&C Mental Health Improvement team, SWAMP and young people have developed a visual resource to raise awareness of the importance of a trustworthy and supportive adult in a child or young person's life to support their mental wellbeing. The resource is to be officially launched at an event on Friday 22nd June.

Early Years Scotland Annual Conference 2018 will focus on the Early Learning and Childcare expansion and on how to ensure children receive the highest quality of care in any setting they attend.

Scottish Out of School Care Network Event - Seeing the Whole Child
Thursday 20th September 2018  - Radisson Hotel, Glasgow 9.15am - 3:30pm 

The day will consider growth mind-set, the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and also practical ideas for supporting children.

The Minister for Childcare and Early Years, Maree Todd MSP will be giving a keynote address alongside Tina Hendry from Re-attachment and autism expert, Jim Taylor. In the afternoon, there will be a screening of the film 'Resilience'.
