Children & Young People's Commissioner Scotland - Annual Report

The Children & Young People's Commissioner Scotland have recently published their Annual Report for 2017-18.

"For 35 years I didn't know I was dyslexic"

After constantly being sent out of class for "bad behaviour", John Mclean left school at 14 years old. More than 20 years later, he was diagnosed with dyslexia. John, who now works as a barber, went on to be named "Student of the Year" at Dundee and Angus College after receiving support for his diagnosis. Read more… 

BREXIT, the EU and Your Future - Free Workshops

YouthLink Scotland, in partnership with Involver and the European Societies UK, are offering FREE interactive Brexit, the EU and Your Future workshops in schools, youth organisations and colleges. This new programme aims to have the voices of Scotland's young people, who have had involvement with the criminal justice system, have their voices heard by decision makers! Scotland's First Court Sentencing Guidelines Come into Force

Scotland's first sentencing guidelines for how courts deal with all offenders have come into force. The guidelines were approved by three senior judges last month. Read more…

Charities are being urged to apply for grants which help them understand the risks of cyber- crime. Read more

 Strategic Legal Fund for Vulnerable Young Migrants

The Strategic Legal Fund for Vulnerable Young Migrants (SLF) is a fund to support legal work in the UK that goes beyond securing justice for an individual and makes a significant contribution to law, practice and procedures to uphold and promote the rights of vulnerable migrant children and young people more generally. John Watson's Trust

The Trust awards grants for educational purposes to children and young people under the age of 21 who have a physical or learning disability or who are socially disadvantaged. Next applications deadlines for 2019 are: 25 January; 15 March; 24 May; 2 August; 1 November.  Read more…
