CLD Managers Scotland Annual Conference

The Community Learning and Development Managers Scotland Annual Conference will take place on Wednesday 31 October 2018 in West Park Conference and Events Centre, 319 Perth Road, Dundee, DD2 1NN
The Theme for this year’s conference is; Community Learning and development’s Role in closing the Poverty Related Attainment Gap Further details to follow.

North West Learning Partnership  - 22 August 2018

Join us at COPE Drumchapel  on 22 August 2018 (10am start) for one of our regular practice-sharing session with colleagues in NW Glasgow.
Margaret Anne  Prentice, a Community Links Practitioner based in Drumchapel will introduce attendees to this valuable service.

Providers' Network  - 11 September 2018

Come along to this session on 11 September 2018 (starting at 10am), here In the Albany Learning & Conference Centre designed for Community Learning & Development providers in Glasgow to keep up to date with local and national initiatives and network with colleagues.

If you charge for your services then this practical half-day session is a perfect introduction to help you understand your costs and develop effective and realistic costing structures.

For organisations employing staff, this practical session will explore what it means to be ‘an employer’, focusing on your legal duties and discussing best practice in dealing with staff.

Setting prices for your service(s) can be a complicated business. In this half-day session you’ll learn about the 3 critical factors in pricing:
Market Value – What is your service worth to customers? Cost Structure – What does it cost you to provide your service? (covered in-depth in earlier session) Competition – Do you have any competitors and what do they charge?

Sustainability is not just about ensuring that you have enough money to keep your organisation going. Although having sufficient funding to keep providing services is obviously important; other, equally important factors need to be taken into consideration to ensure your organisation’s long term viability and; ultimately its survival, particularly through difficult economic times.

The STEM (Sciences, Technologies, Engineering & Mathematics) Strategy

One of the key actions contained in the Strategy is around professional learning/ training in STEM subjects and Education Scotland are keen to hear about the types of professional learning that would make the greatest impact on you and your learners. They would also like to know more about the best way for you to access career-long professional learning and would appreciate your help in completing a brief survey. Everyone’s Children – Training & CPD Opportunities
Child Protection Awareness Training CERTIFICATED COURSE

Tuesday 21st August 9.30am -12.30pm The Albany Centre (GCVS), Glasgow
This training is aimed at people who come into contact with children and young people in the course of their work, perhaps through working with their parents. The aim of this course is to raise awareness of staff and/or volunteers about their responsibilities to protect children from harm, so that they can respond appropriately to concerns about children.

Case Conference Attendance Workshop Wednesday 25th July and Thursday 14th August 9.30am - 12.30pm
The course is intended for staff who may be required to attend Child Protection Case Conferences. It is assumed participants will have an understanding of GIRFEC and child protection processes. The format will be a mixture of presentations and group discussion. Places are limited to one per organisation but if you would like more staff to receive this training please email citywideforum@gcvs.org.uk to arrange this.

Solihull Parenting Approach Training
Click here to find the training schedule for Solihull Foundation 2 Day Training taking place between July and December 2018. There are 5 places allocated on each training date for Voluntary Sector staff. All places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. To secure your place please email centralparentingteam@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.  A confirmation email will be sent to prior to the training taking place.

AVoYP "Taster" Session

To support understanding and encourage the participation of young people in the Amplifying the Voice of Young People (AVoYP) programme, Positive Prison? Positive Futures are hosting an interactive, informal ‘taster’ session on 9 August 2018.  This invitation is targeted at young people aged 16-25, who have experience of living with a criminal conviction. Registration is now open. Young people and ‘plus ones’ can register for their FREE tickets via the Eventbrite page

Democracy Matters

The Scottish Government has launched the next phase of its Local Governance Review, inviting people to join a conversation called 'Democracy Matters'. The review encourages people to hold conversations in their communities to discuss Democracy Matters and includes a community engagement fund where groups can apply for £100 - £300 to help make conversations happen
