CLOSING THE TAKEOUT WINDOW
As of May 10th, we have officially closed the takeout window and all guests now enter the dining room in order to receive their meals. Guests can still choose to take their meals to-go, a feature we've found increases the accessibility of our services. Guests who choose to dine-in eat their meals with reusable dishware while those who do take-out receive their meal in compostable packaging.

FLP AND THE ENVIRONMENT
In February, we transferred our purchasing of takeout supplies away from Amazon and Webrestaurant to Coralville-based EcoCare Supply. Their partner company, Compost Ninja (recommended by board member Katie Meyer), is handling our compost pickup. Will there be a day when the Free Lunch Program sends almost nothing to the landfill? It's a goal worth pursuing!

OUTRECH
We have started giving presentations about Free Lunch to civic groups and faith congregations as part of our efforts to expand our community of guests, volunteers, and donors. If you are part of a group that might be interested in the work that FLP has been doing for the past 39 years, please reach out and we will schedule a visit!

YEAR-ROUND SUPPORT
As you all know, FLP serves meals 6-days-a-week all year long, including holidays! As a result, our need for community support is on-going and our recurring donors form the basis of our operations. If you're interested in becoming on of these repeat supporters, check out our website or email us to learn more!

FLP NEEDS YOU THIS SUMMER
|
|
|
Summer is here and you know what that means: summer vacation! We're glad that many of our volunteers are getting some well-deserved time to relax, visit family, and go on new adventures. However, that means we have a lot of open days coming up over the next few months!
If you have time this summer, take a look at our Open Day Sign-Up and see if you can come give us a hand. It's a great opportunity to help the community and get to know volunteers outside of your usual group. And if you're new to volunteering, coming in on an open day is the best way to get to know our work!
Learn about our upcoming open days on our Sign-Up Genius or by contacting Diane at icreelunchkitchen@gmail.com.

The FLP Board of Directors meets quarterly and serves an integral role in the mission of Free Lunch. At the end of 2022, we will have to say goodbye to five board members who have served the maximum term limits! Will you consider filling their shoes? Or do you know someone who would make a great addition to our board?
Please reach out to Kai at icfreelunch@gmail.com.

Did You Know . . .
The giving season may be over, but FLP still needs your support year-round.
The Free Lunch Program has continued to serve meals daily, Monday through Saturday, during the entire pandemic. Because of this, nearly 32,000 meals were served in 2020 to members of our community. This service continues today, and your support during this difficult time is invaluable.
Please consider a donation to FLP:
Donations can be made through ACH by emailing icfreelunch@gmail.com, through PayPal on our website, or by check to FLP, 1105 S. Gilbert Ct. #100, Iowa City 52240.
