Xavier families -

It is my great pleasure to welcome you back to Xavier for our spring semester. I am so excited to embark on the latter half of the 2020-2021 school year with you and look forward to continuing to catch up with you all each month through this newsletter.

We have a wonderful catalog of Spring 2021 events designed to keep the Xavier community informed and engaged despite ever-evolving COVID-19 restrictions. Our latest event, 11th Grade College Night, will be held via zoom tonight, January 26, 2021 at 6:30PM. Led by our Director of College Counseling Sarah Rosenblum, this event is geared towards parents of 11th graders who will learn all of the tools and information necessary to support their child's collegiate pursuits. At the event, we will be joined by representatives from 5 colleges, eager to answer any questions you may have. For additional details, please contact Sarah at

While this next event is still quite a ways out, I encourage you all to mark your calendars now. On April 8, 2021, Xavier will be hosting our Gather & Give Gala. During this spring fundraiser, our beloved faculty and parents can formally come together for a fun, socially-distanced night. The event will be hosted at the Armadillo Palace and will feature a live auction where you have the chance to bid on amazing prizes donated by the Xavier community. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event will be limited to 150 guests so please stay tuned for the official ticket release next month. We wouldn't want to miss having you at this great event! For more details on the gala and access to the auction donation form, please visit our events page here.

Finally, as a reminder, our new website is the resource hub for all things Xavier. There you can find commonly needed resources and information including important upcoming dates and academic schedule, alumni news, announcements and more.

Thank you for your continued support of our students and faculty during these unprecedented times!  We hope that we continue to retain your trust and confidence as we showcase our commitment to your students' educational needs.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 8th, 2021! Xavier will be holding
its annual Spring FUNdraiser outdoors at the Armadillo Palace. This amazing
venue, with an Austin vibe, has a huge partially covered patio that is perfect for
holding a socially distanced event. It will give Xavier parents a chance to enjoy
meeting other parents, alumni and staff. Attendance will be limited to the first 150 parents and sponsors so make sure to get your tickets as soon as they launch next month. For more information on the gala and silent auction, visit our events page.

Dear Xavier 11th Grade Families,

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the upcoming 11th grade college night for students and parents! This college program will take place tonight Tuesday, January 26th at 6:30PM on Zoom. This is our annual college kick-off event and we request for all students and parents to attend so everyone can get on-boarded for the upcoming college search and application process.

We will have a college panel who will share general college tips and will also answer questions you may have about the admission process, how COVID-19 has impacted the college process and standardized testing, updates on how to research colleges during this time, and provide an overview on the admission timeline and next steps.

Representatives from the following universities will be in attendance: Trinity University, St. Thomas University, University of Oregon, Stephen F. Austin University, and Drake University.

Please RSVP to this email to let me know how many from your family will join so I can track our expected attendance. Thank you and see you tonight!

Please allow me to introduce Stephanie Curry, our new high school English teacher!

Stephanie Curry currently holds an MA in English as well as a BA in English and a BS in Pre-Med Chemistry. She graduated as salutatorian from Jesse H. Jones senior high school in 2009. From 2009 to 2018, she attended Texas Southern University for her undergraduate and graduate studies.

After receiving her MA degree, she was offered an adjunct position in the English department of the very school she had spent so many fond years. Two years later, Stephanie is proud to be an English teacher at Xavier Academy. She intends to do her best work here, and she looks forward to providing a comfortable environment for her students.

Welcome Stephanie to Xavier Educational Academy! We are so excited to have you join our community.

2018 Xavier graduate, Rachel, is thriving at University of Texas! In her time at UT thus far, Rachel has made the Dean's list and University Honors for two consecutive semesters, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA with her 16-hour course load!

"The curriculum and the atmosphere of college is different," Rachel shares. "You are given assignments and deadlines. Sometimes the professor will remind you of due dates, but the way you handle work is up to you. What skill sets do you have? Can you manage a schedule? Are you able to ask for help? Are you able to find/search for resources that your college offers? Being ready for college is about having the tools and skills to succeed, not knowing the information going in. Xavier provides you with the environment to learn these skills.”

We are so proud of Rachel and wish her all the best as she finishes her final years of college!  You can learn more about Rachel's story and how Xavier set her (and other alumni) up for collegiate success here!
