A Brief Update

July 2017 Newsletter

Dear Friend,
We get to meet our new baby sooner than we anticipated!

On Monday we went to the hospital in Newcastle for what we thought would be the last time. Unfortunately, that was not to be the case. In our last update, we mentioned the baby has a cyst in his abdomen. The scan on Monday revealed that it has continued to grow, and the baby will need surgery after birth.

The doctor also has concerns over the size of the cyst interfering with birth, should I deliver at 40+ weeks. Because of this, the doctor suggested induction of labour 2 weeks before my due date. So, we will travel to Newcastle on 17th July for induction!

While I'm somewhat relieved this pregnancy is coming to an end, we find ourselves suddenly having 2 weeks to prepare for baby. We are trying to tie up all possible loose ends in 2 weeks rather than 4.

I (Leon) have already been putting my work into a holding pattern, but at the same time this has caught us off guard. The kids are coping with news of surgery and going to Newcastle again remarkably well.

Because of Titus's history, it's difficult not to worry about what will happen when this baby has surgery. It should be a straightforward operation, but it's tempting to worry that things will go wrong. Walking through the hospital in Newcastle on Monday, all the sights, sounds and smells brought back memories of being there with Titus nearly 2 years ago. A lot of the emotion Chrysti is dealing with now is also due to grief over our brave, strong boy.

We have a lot to prepare for before the 17th of July! First though, we are planning an Independence Day party for our friends and neighbours on Saturday. Here are some things you can pray for.
God Bless,
