Welcoming the New Year!

See whats new and exciting on Motor Avenue!

Happy New Year from the Motor Avenue Improvement Association! We hope that everyone had a happy and healthy holiday season. As we reflect on our past endeavors on Motor Avenue, we are looking forward to a wonderful year filled with exciting events!

In 2013, the Motor Avenue Improvement Association contributed greatly to the community. The Farmers Market and Urban Garden Program is growing quickly. Our Urban Garden program features two community and three school gardens with the purpose of educating our children and neighbors about nutrition, sustainability and community cooperation. Similarly, the Farmers Market runs every Sunday, providing the Motor Avenue community with fresh produce and entertainment for the whole family. The Motor Association continues to work in many ways to maintain and improve life in the community. Future projects and events include implementing a community valet service to support local businesses, augmenting bicycle infrastructure and organizing family movie nights!

If you would like to become a member to be part of this effort and to make a difference on Motor Avenue, you can find more information on membership here. Both residents and businesses are encouraged to join!

Come Visit the Farmers Market!

The market features fresh, locally grown fruits and veggies, organic coffee and more! Come by to pick up some groceries or enjoy a variety of prepared food from crepes to tamales. The Motor Avenue Farmers Market and Urban Garden Program is thriving and growing. We are proud of the local support we have received from the community and we will continue to bring farm fresh food to your table.

The market has recently included live music, dog adoptions and free yoga lessons. Come out every Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm on Motor Ave and National Boulevard! We are now giving away free usable bags!

Take Action Against the Ticket Trap!

The ticket trap on Motor Ave and National Blvd continues to be a problem for both drivers and the surrounding businesses. Many people have received a ticket at this intersection or have experienced the congestion that it causes and something must be done. While the Motor Avenue Improvement Association is doing everything in its power to mitigate this issue, your support can make a difference. Contact your local officials to voice your opinion on this matter:

Councilman Paul Koretz: (310) 289-0353 or paul.koretz@lacity.org
