Update: Turning Left on Venice Blvd onto Motor Ave

The left turn lane on Venice Blvd onto Motor Ave is very tricky and dangerous. This intersection has seen numerous accidents which could have been avoided. For the past 2 years we have been advocating for a left turn signal to be installed by Caltrans. The project was approved and initially set for March of 2013, but due to design and lack of funding it was delayed.

We have been in communication with Caltrans trying to push for the light to be installed a.s.a.p. They confirmed with us that the project will go up to bid in January of 2014, with construction beginning as early as March 2014.

Although we would have wished for this light to go up sooner to avoid any additional accidents, we understand the project had unexpected delays. We are relieved that there is finally a new timeline for the project..

A Loss for Motor Ave

Our condolences go out to our own Fire Station 43 and the family of Captain Mario Martinez. Captain Martinez passed away last month and will be sorely missed by his friends and the Motor Ave/Palms community.

Captain Martinez was a supporter of our work and was activley involved in our projects along Motor Ave.
Come celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year,  and Sukkot, the harvest festival, at our market. We will be featuring many Jewish traditional foods and such as apples, honey, cakes, and fresh seasonal vegetables, and fruit. There will also be cards, lulov’s, etrog’s, shofar’s, and many other things customary to the Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot .This will be a fun day and a great time for families to celebrate at our market.
The Motor Avenue Farmers' Market will launch a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.com to help fund its expansion of the market by 44% and expand the Urban Garden Program, which features three school gardens and two community gardens.

These will be the first community gardens for our Motor Ave Community. Be excited with us! We will need your help with sharing the campaign with friends and neighbors once it launches.

We will keep you posted once the campaign is live on the site. For now head over to the Market's Facebook page for updates.
