The Motor Avenue Improvement Association wants your opinion!

We want to incorporate the community into all of our plans for the future. Let us know, what would you like to see along the street? What does our community need most? What new events and projects would benefit you? We welcome all comments, suggestions and concerns. You can reach us Monday through Friday at (310) 202-9002 or send us an email anytime at

Alley Makeover in the works!

As part of MAIA's Alleyway Repavement Program, the alleyway between Palms Blvd. and Woodbine Ave re-pavement project started in June. This is the first of many alley improvements in MAIA's Alleyway Repavement Program which will be expanded throughout the neighborhood. Alleyways have become a major issue for this area, causing problems for drivers and worsening the appearance of our neighborhood. As MAIA had notified residents and community members of construction dates and alley closures, we will continue to keep the community informed for future parking amenities.

Let's Move at the Farmers Market!

The Farmers Market had yet another successful event with Let's Move in May. Children and adults were able to get active and educate themselves on the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle. Be sure to stop by to learn more about leading a healthy lifestyle, and pick up some summer vegetables while you're there!

Check out the Farmers Market online or visit the Facebook page.

Latest Efforts of MAIA

MAIA's latest effort along Motor Ave is the Motor Sidewalk Beautification Program, which ensures cleanliness along the streets for residences, business owners, and local visitors. A special "Thank You" to Jeanne Parker and Walter Renzi for bringing this program into reality! By employing local homeless and at-risk individuals, it creates an opportunity for them to return to healthy and productive lifestyles within the community. By developing and implementing street improvement projects, MAIA hopes to engage the community and maintain an aesthetically pleasing environment.

Urban Garden Program
Motor Avenue Farmers Market and Urban Garden Program is flourishing! With the help of students, parents, and teachers at Palms Middle School, the garden is growing and thriving. The group of students and volunteers are making sure the vegetable beds are in top shape for the scorching hot summer months. Fresh vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and artichokes are growing and selling at the Farmers Market!
