Are you aware of your rights?

Every day 6,000 people become carers, but often it’s not something we’ve planned for. Carers Rights Day is a national campaign to help carers know their rights and find out how to get the support they are entitled to.

Carers Rights Day 2018 is Friday 30 November, and we'll be doing our utmost over the coming weeks to help deliver information about legal rights for unpaid carers.

But we need your help. Your support of Carers Rights Day is invaluable. Please do get involved - from putting up a poster at your workplace, or sharing our social media messages, or even putting on a fundraising event - every contribution helps us to equip carers with the information they need. And if you pop along to our raffle at Eastbourne's Arndale Centre on Carers Rights Day, you might even win a car! Find out more...

Your help needed with a survey about young carers
If you are a young carer up to the age of 17, we're asking you to complete a survey about the needs and experiences of adolescent young carers. The survey is run by Carers Trust and Dr. Saul Becker of the University of Sussex, who are working on a Europe-wide project to support the mental health of young carers. The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete and is open until the end of October for response by young carers aged 1-17. Please share with other young carers you may know.

Do you have experience of acute inpatient mental health care as a service user, carer or member of staff?
If so, Sussex Partnership would love to gather your views on ‘talking treatments’. In particular, what do you think it could do to improve access to therapy for inpatients and how would it be best provided? Email Debbie Coton at or call 0300 304 0088.

In memory of Michael
"Care for the Carers has been my backbone over the last five years of Michael's illness. I wouldn't have coped as well without their support." We're very touched by local carer Yvonne's fundraiser, which she has asked us to share to help other carers in East Sussex.

Can you vote for us in Uckfield?
Please vote for us before the end of August in-store at Tesco in Uckfield, and we could be awarded up to £4000 to spend on unpaid carers in East Sussex as part of the Tesco Bags of Help scheme
