With Broadway Bound, CCT completes an achievement five years in the making
In the spring of 2017, the CCT Board of Directors decided to mount Neil Simon's Eugene trilogy--a semi-autobiographical set of plays that Simon wrote in the 1980s--over the course of three seasons. CCT produced Brighton Beach Memoirs in 2018 and Biloxi Blues in 2019, both to great acclaim from audiences and critics. The third and final installment, Broadway Bound, was slated for July 2020.
After multiple pandemic postponements, CCT is proud and excited to finally present Broadway Bound, running July 21-24 and 28-31. Don't miss what is sure to be a hilarious and heartwarming production! Didn't catch the first two? No problem! Knowledge of Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues is not required to enjoy Broadway Bound.
The entire Eugene trilogy has been skillfully directed by CCT's Artistic Director, Sam Hack. Biloxi Blues received five Theatre Mask Awards from Arts for Life, the most for any single production in 2019. Brighton Beach Memoirs received three TMAs. Both productions won Outstanding Production of a Comedy and Outstanding Direction of a Comedy (Sam Hack).
Broadway Bound shows Eugene (a semi-autobiographical version of Neil Simon) and his older brother Stanley dealing with their parents' relationship falling apart as the brothers work together toward being comedy writers for the radio and eventually, television. When their material is broadcast on the radio for the first time, the rest of the family is upset to hear a comedic rendition of their own trials and tribulations. How will Eugene and his brother balance their loyalties to their family and to their art?
