June 12, 2012: 45th Anniversary of Loving v. Virginia Ruling
Today celebrates 45 years since the landmark US Supreme Court case at the center of our film. We remember the Lovings this day and are grateful for the freedom to choose whom we love.

 Icarus Films Acquisition
As of May 2013, Icarus Films became the The Loving Story's distributor for educational DVD sales and rentals, specialty screenings, commercial and non-commercial theatrical screenings. We are thrilled to be working with their team as we continue to bring our film to new audiences and venues. For all related inquiries please contact the Icarus team directly for a speedy response. For a list of upcoming screenings, visit the Icarus calendar as well as our website and Facebook page for regularly updated information on when The Loving Story may be coming to a screen near you. DVD sales for the general public will become available in 2013. More information on that exciting release will follow.

Civil Rights Belt Tour
sponsored by The Fledgling Fund
Beginning today and continuing throughout the summer, The Loving Story will be screening in various locations in the southern US that have played significant roles in the Civil Rights movement. The Civil Rights Belt screenings are aimed at connecting The Loving Story to audiences who might not otherwise have an opportunity to see the film in art house venues or other locations. Screenings are being organized by Crowdstarter. We are grateful to The Fledgling Fund for sponsoring the screenings and discussions.

The first of these events will take place in New Orleans this evening at the Ashe Cultural Arts Center. In July, the NAACP will be hosting a screening in Jackson, Mississippi. We are also excited to be working with The Moton Museum in Virginia's historic Prince Edward County on a summer screening. Please continue to check our
website and Facebook page for updated details on these well as others in South Carolina, Alabama and more.

Recent Awards for The Loving Story
The Loving Story had the honor of being recognized by both History Makers International and Focal International. In January, we received the award for Best Social Change Production at the 2012 History Makers Awards, and in May we were awarded by Focal International for Best Use of Footage in Factual Production. We are humbled to be in the company of our fellow nominees.  A very special thank you to Hope Ryden and the estate of Grey Villet for their invaluable contributions to this film.

A Spring of Screenings

The Loving Story enjoyed a packed season of screenings and festivals. We made international appearances at the Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival in Greece, The International Exile Film Festival in Sweden and the Global Visions Film Festival in Edmonton, Canada, among others. Recent domestic screenings included The Paley Center for Media in New York, The Museum of the Moving Image (in conjunction with the Brooklyn Historical Society) in Queens, and a special conference at UNC at the Center for the Study of the American South in Chapel Hill, NC. Quotables from Other Screenings!

"It was especially gratifying to hear from both young law students and seasoned attorneys how meaningful it was to learn about the real people at the heart of a Supreme Court case. Mildred and Richard Loving were no longer names on the Loving v. Virginia case file, but flesh and blood individuals whose noble stance made a difference to our country." - Director/Producer Nancy Buirski on the recent screening at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, DC, in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Humanities Government Liaison Office.

"I can't tell you how much the film resonated in an audience that we never expected to reach. The response was incredible." Producer/Editor Elisabeth Haviland James on her State Department-sponsored screening of The Loving Story in Tajikistan
