News and Reflections of and about Northwest Yearly Meeting
NWYM is a Christ-centered, discerning, inter-generational community of Friends, committed to discipleship and outreach to impact society locally and globally.
130th Annual Sessions
It was so good to see Friends and spend time together during Yearly Meeting Sessions held in person at George Fox University after two years of online only sessions! It was nice to see smiling faces of those attending in person and online in the hybrid format this year. Sessions were streamed online for those that were unable to attend on campus.

Sessions began Sunday morning with worship and a message shared in our local churches from Dr. Jim Le Shana, our General Superintendent. Our theme for this year was “Together to Gather: Workers for the Harvest!” Sunday evening followed with a Missions Banquet after which Stan Leach, Executive Director of Evangelical Friends Mission, shared with those attending about the work being done to share God in our world.

Monday and Tuesday mornings were started with worship songs led by the Jon Fodge family. Worship in music was followed by devotional sharing led by Julie Anderson on Monday and by Grant Banham on Tuesday.

Business sessions were held Monday and Tuesday mornings. These sessions included reports from the Yearly Meeting committees, from our camps, and from George Fox University. Janelle Nordyke, Director of Finance and Development, provided an update and budget for NWYM.

During the afternoon, attendees were offered several workshops in which they could participate.

Dr. Tim Roehl, author and speaker, shared during the evening sessions about making decisions that matter by being a “Good Newser” and sharing with others that knowing Jesus is a dream come true! He encouraged us to make time to spend with others and to show them God’s love in order to bring them into the family of God.

As we were reminded by Jim Le Shana, “By God’s grace, our best days in Northwest Yearly Meeting are still ahead of us!”

Volunteers on Wheels
Summer Projects
The “Volunteers on Wheels” installed new siding on the parsonage at Rosedale Friends Church in Salem, Oregon and also did some painting, cleaning and yard work around the Church from July 25 -29th 2022.  Volunteers included Bill and Kay Rourke, Bruce and Sharon Longstroth, Clyde Thomas and Dave Meireis.
There were 11 members from Rosedale Friends Church and 2 friends came to also help work with the crew, and the lunches were provided for everybody by four ladies of the church.

We had a great time of fellowship and working together; and we got the south side and the west side of the parsonage finished with the siding.  The new siding and painting really make the church look nice in our effort to attract new people.

Volunteers on Wheels and the volunteers from the church truly demonstrated the love of God through their hard work and servants’ hearts.

After Rosedale, the Volunteers on Wheels group traveled to Greenleaf, Idaho to do a project there.

If you are interested in working and ministering with the Volunteers on Wheels, or having them come to your church to do a project, contact Bill Rourke at mybillrourke@hotmail.com
