We're inspired by updates from our partners in Africa, who have been sharing with us the ways in which they are supporting their communities in the current crisis. Although official figures are relatively low at the moment, there is real concern about how these communities would be affected by a rise in cases. Whilst training programmes are largely on hold, our partner organisations are hard at work adapting their activities. Future Focus Foundation in Sierra Leone - pictured above - have been providing handwashing facilities and utilising vocational training participants to make face masks for distribution amongst saving groups they support in more rural areas. They have also donated to the District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) to help supply food to quarantine homes in Kenema.

Meanwhile, our partners in Zambia have also reported a rather novel way to spread the word about COVID-19. This is Jahman, who rides his bespoke bike around Kafue town, and reminds residents to stay indoors!

Also in Zambia, tailoring trainees at Eliashib Women's Centre have leaned to make masks. We hope it won't be long before they are back at their machines and continuing their full training programme.

The 2.6 Challenge - what will yours be?
It might be May, but you can still sign up to the 2.6 Challenge, which launched last Sunday - the day on which the London Marathon, an important fundraising event, was due to be held. The 2.6 Challenge is a way to support charities like Tools for Self Reliance who are facing a loss in income because of cancelled and postponed events. Your 2.6 Challenge can be anything - one of our supporters is walking 2.6km a day for 26 days, another is learning 26 words in another language - whatever you choose, you can use the dedicated fundraising page - don't forget to share pictures from your challenge, tag Tools for Self Reliance, and use the #twopointsixchallenge hashtag!
Sign up to the 2.6 Challenge today!
