Facebook Rallies Around Sibling Group of Five
13-year-old Lacey and her four younger siblings had been living in a homeless shelter for 45 days before moving into foster care with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Needing a serious self-esteem boost, we wanted to provide each child with brand new clothes. We posted Lacey's story to facebook, and with 5 donors, we were able to get a clothing gift card sponsored for each child. We were so overwhelmed with support for this group, we are now working closely with the caseworker to see if we can do even more together for these kids as we embark on their foster care journey with them!
On Thursday, April 26 join us to celebrate extraordinary youth in foster care and the people that shed light in their lives. You don't want to miss guest speaker, Steve Pemberton, recount his story of overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds in the foster care system to become the trail-blazing executive and champion for diversity he is today. Ask us how you can be a fishing buddy.
On Amplify Austin Day, we raised funds to improve the lives of more than 300 youth in foster care!
In just 24 hours, 104 people were able to raise $27,885 for children in foster care. That money is already being put to use for clothing, beds, extracurricular activities and more to ensure children in foster care are not being held back by their circumstances. Thank you for Amplifying Austin!
