Then He said to them, "The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest..."~Luke 10:2
It's hard to believe that it's 2012 already. Isn't the world supposed to come to an end this year? Or was that last year? Well either way we know that Jesus will return some day, and we've got a job to do until He does.
It's still early in the year, but I wanted to send out a quick update to everyone.
Already it has been a busy year for us. Makara and I have been spending some time with two new Victory missionaries who have come over to Cambodia to start up a facility to house young girls rescued from the sex-trade. Carin
(the two white people standing on the left in the photo above) are setting up their base in Siem Reap. Carin and Patrick are awesome people! Carin has much wisdom in planning and strategy. Patrick is always positive and encouraging. It's great to have them here, and we all plan on working closely together in the years to come!
Last week I was researching online about Christian education in Cambodia. I came across the blog of Charles McCaul
(second from the right in the photo above). He co-founded the "Cambodia Outreach/New Life Church
" in Phnom Penh. Today the church is overseen by his son Jesse McCaul, and it is one of the largest churches in Cambodia. I got Charles' email address from his blog and I sent him a message asking if I could come down to Phnom Penh to visit him, or one of his staff, at their Christian school. I wanted to observe their school in action, and ask questions. Charles emailed me back saying he was on his way to visit Poipet. This was great because he and I were able to spend some good time together in Poipet over a couple of days. Also, Makara and I just returned from a visit to Phnom Penh where, again, we were able to spend time with the McCaul family along with Carin. There are years of Cambodian church planting experience in that family! I am happy to have started a friendship with Charles, and I hope to maintain it for a long time to come.
Both Makara and Noah are doing great! Noah is now 5 months old. He is very alert and energetic. I'll put of picture of him below.
Please read the column to the right to see what else we're up to.
Thank you to all of you who are praying for us, and supporting us. This is going to be an exciting year in Poipet. If you would like to support us, or know more about us, you can contact us via our website: harleyandmakara.com.
Please feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone you think will be interested! I'll send out another update in the next couple of months or so.
