Rosa’s Downtown

Rosa’s Trattoria and Bar, on the corner of Tulare Avenue and “K” Street at the site of the old Fred’s Barbeque, is slated for a February opening.
Rosa’s brings Italian food back to the downtown along with more formal dining. A banner is up and contractors are working to completely remodel the building which is looking really nice inside.
Those close to the project say that Rosa’s will feature all new fixtures with an open spacious look. Watch for more details on their open or visit our website at

Nunley Joins TDA Board

Tulare developer Greg Nunley is one of two newly-elected councilman from this last election. Greg is also the new board representative for the Tulare Downtown Association. Improvement of the downtown is a high priority for Councilman Nunley.
Nunley has already met with the TDA board and now plans to meet with downtown property owners. The meeting is slated for Wednesday, February 22 at 4 PM at the Tulare Chamber of Commerce Trade Room. Please make plans to attend if you area a property owner.

Tower Square PBID

The Tulare Tower Square Association, also known as the PBID, is progressing on their goal to improve the Tower Square. While awaiting the first round of funding slated to arrive this month, the group has already tackled some immediate issues such as lighting and clean up. The square is much brighter at night now thanks to the efforts of property owners making repairs and additions to the lighting.
Future projects include improved trash enclosures, filling in unused planters and curbing “camping” in the alley. If you are interested in attending, board meetings are the third Tuesday morning of each month.

Lucky Star Restaurant

There’s a great little Chinese Restaurant in downtown Tulare. If you haven’t had a chance to visit, put it on your list of great places to eat: Lucky Star.
In the location of the former Jean Jean restaurant, Lucky Star offers a wide menu of all your Chinese food favorites. Our family has a few recommendations to make too!
With the cold weather nothing sounds better than a hot bowl of soup, right? Stop by Lucky Star for their House Noodle Soup chock full of tender vegetables, lean chicken, and tasty noodles. It’s sure to hit the right spot! A dish popular with our son is the Honey Walnut Shrimp. Served on a bed of crispy angel hair noodles, the shrimp is tender and always cooked to perfection, and features a just-right sweet sauce with crunchy walnuts.
You can order ala carte or, if you’re really hungry, have one of the combination plates they offer. Open Tuesday thru Sunday until 9 PM, Lucky Star is a great place to stop in for lunch or dinner.

Pittys’ Barbeque

The airplane is flying high again as Pitty’s Barbeque opened at 240 North “L” Street just weeks before the holidays. Open 10 AM – 3 PM, Pitty’s offers a range of barbeque food items for lunch or an early dinner.
Along with barbequed meats of a wide variety, Pitty’s offers tasty sides as well. Stop by Pitty’s for lunch one day this week.

New Policy for Events

When we started in 2011-12, the five-year plan was to bring more activity to the streets of downtown. Over the last few years we’ve brought events back from the park and put them on the streets and produced series of summer street fairs and concerts. While we had mixed success with attendance, we’ve enjoyed great success with the types of events we produced and the wealth of knowledge we’ve gained.
As we head into 2017, the Tulare Downtown Association initiates the next phase of the plan, taking a new direction in how we produce promotional events in the downtown. Our goal is to help you take advantage of the Association resources and experience to promote your business.
Now you can access all the TDA has to offer in event production. If you plan to do a grand opening, want to do a sidewalk sale, think an art show or other type of promotion is something in which you’re interested, the TDA staff is here to help you!
The TDA staff can help with creation of posters and flyers, distribution, signage, providing beer and wine service, providing tables, chairs, generators and staging. All you need is an idea and some people power!
Call the TDA office at 685-2350 to discuss your idea and plan a date for your next event!
