We're Ready to Welcome Thousands of Bikes
to the Newport Folk & Jazz Festivals!
Last year we parked 2,695 bikes in three days during the Newport Folk Festival. With over 40 volunteers, we can't wait for the bike-happiest time of year! What will this year bring? We've seen the numbers of bicyclists grow by the hundreds each year since 2012. Respond to this email with your guess for the weekend total – the closest will win their choice of Bike Newport t-shirt, hat, or water bottle!
Injured Marine Hand-Cycling Across America
Stopping in Newport Saturday, July 25th
Get ready to greet an amazing cross-country rider on Saturday morning! Toran Gaal, veteran of the Marine Corps, is in the midst of Ride Across America – a solo hand-cycle from San Diego to Arlington, VA.
Although we'll be busy at Folk Fest, we'd love if our island bike community could meet Toran to show him some love and ride with him into town! His plan is to arrive at the Middletown/Newport border by Easton's Beach at/around 8:00am on Saturday, and end up at the Old Fort Rd firehouse. If you'd like to be part of this wonderful welcome wagon, check on updates at Newport local Chris Rowe's support page and learn more about Toran and his ride at: http://www.torangaal.com/
