Bike to Work Day 2016
More than 100 cyclists participated in Bike to Work Day 2016. Thanks to Washington Square Cafe, A Market and Howley Bread Group a Franchisee of Panera Bread for a fantastic breakfast spread on a beautiful morning in Washington Square. In the afternoon we gathered for the map release (see above), the Bike Friendly Business of the Year award (see below), and a bike parade and party (see the video!) Thanks to all the cyclists, contributors, and the Newport Police Department, for making it a great day to celebrate the joys of ditching the bike and hopping in the saddle!
Bicycle Friendly Business of the Year
Fastnet Pub owner Butch Murray was recognized for unwavering bicycle enthusiasm and as a consistent first adopter when it comes to supporting bicycle activities in town - promoting events, setting up bike racks, and dreaming of bike covered roofs! Butch is lending his property short-term rent-free to Bike Newport to help us establish a presence in the heart of town at 29 Spring Street. Thanks to Butch for alway making Newport better for bikes!
