Fall Back and Light Up!
Hard to believe, but daylight savingâ€™s time is just around the corner. It will get darker a lot earlier, but thatâ€™s NO reason to stop cycling and every reason to make sure youâ€™re WELL-LIT! On the weekend of Nov. 1st-2nd, head to Newport Bicycle, Ten Speed Spokes, or Pedal Power Bicycle Shop. to â€œFall Back and Light Up!â€ See and be seen by outfitting your bike and yourself with lights and high-visibility gear/apparel. Head to your local bike shop and take advantage of this great sale! Please spread the word!
Fall Bike Garage Schedule
The Bike Garages are bustling with educational programs this fall! Now operating six days a week, we're offering all kinds of opportunities to learn and love bikes. Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons see us training 2nd-4th graders from Pell Elementary in our Junior Bike Mechanics after school program. On Thursdays, we have all-day sessions with students from the MET School, as well as an Off-Road Mountain Bike Academy in Miantonomi Park. On Saturday afternoons we're helping members of the Boys & Girls Club earn their own bikes. Want to join and get your hands greasy? We're open to the public at the following times and locations:
Mondays: Mechanic's Night
Bike Garage at Rogers, 5:30-7:30pm
Fridays: Open Garage/Bike Library
Bike Garage North/Florence Gray Center, 2:30-4:30pm

LOCATION CHANGE: Bike Newport Group Rides
Every Saturday, weather dependent, Bike Newport leads local island rides - Ocean Drive and/or Middletown beaches, ranging from 12 to 25 miles. All rides are no-drop and mixed pace. All rides will meet at Bike Newport headquarters at 437 Broadway at 9:15am and leave at 9:30am. If you havenâ€™t joined a group ride yet â€“ give it a try! Fall is the best time of year for a crisp morning ride.
