Donate Used Bikes at Newport & Middletown Recycling Days

It's time for spring cleaning and liberating forgotten bikes from their basement and garage storage! Bring bikes (along with other recyclables and bulk waste) to:
Newport Spring Recycling Day â€“ Easton's Beach, 8am - 12pm
Middletown Bulk Waste Amnesty Day â€“ 2nd Beach, 8am - 1pm
A team from Bike Newport will be there to collect repairable bikes for restoration and distribution in the community. Bikes beyond repair will still be recycled.

Basic Bike Maintenance
Class for Women
Wednesday, April 23
Calling all women on bikes! Ready to fix your own flats? Join us at the Bike Garage at Rogers for a basic roadside maintenance class geared towards women and girls. Topics will include pre-ride checks, fixing flats, caring for chains, and more.
Where: The Bike Garage is housed in the Newport Area Career and Technical Center at Rogers High School (Old Fort Rd. entrance, past the tennis courts). Click here for a map.
When: 5:30 - 7 p.m. Depending on time we may go for a ride afterwards.
Bring: Your bike and a notebook. If you can't bring your own bike, we may be able to provide you with one.
Cost: Suggested donation of $20. Includes basic tire repair kit.

Need new wheels for spring? Our volunteer mechanics and Met School interns have been hard at work all winter to fix up our fleet of donated bikes - some for repair, some for sale. The sale of bikes helps support our program Come check out the selection at the Bike Garage at Rogers. The bikes come in all sizes and styles at very affordable prices.

The annual celebration of getting to work on two wheels is just around the corner! May is National Bike Month and May 16 is Bike to Work Day. All activities take place in Washington Square, Newport.
6:00- 9:00am Commuter Breakfast
3:30pm Press Conference and Presentations
4:15pm Community Ride
Jonathanâ€™s Cafe will be providing morning java to all bike commuters; RIPTA will be on hand with a demonstration bus bike rack for practice; and AARP-RI is again sponsoring Bike to Work Day in support of healthy, active transportation. Stay tuned for more partner updates!
Start getting ready now! Form a riding group from your workplace and make a plan. Start the day with the Commuter Breakfast and end with the big Community Ride around town.

2014 Father's Day Ride
Registration is Now OPEN

Don't miss our signature event! The Elliot Kaminitz Father's Day Ride raises awareness and funds for improved cycling through education and engineering. Please join us, and please help spread the word. Check out the website and Facebook page and encourage your friends and family to partcipate. It's a wonderful way to start Father's Day, and with 6/12/25 mile rides, an off-road kids ride inside the Fort, and a 2-mile Bay Walk, there's an option for everyone.

Daffodillion Bike Ride
Celebrate SPRING with an adorable bike ride of fun and flowers! Join Bike Newport as we appreciate the efforts of Daffodillion to plant 1,000,000 daffodils in Newport! We will tour the plantings and end up at the Newport Daffodil Festival at Bannister's Wharf for local food and live music.
Length will be 10-15 miles with a brief walk on the Cliff Walk. Bring your helmet, a camera, bike lock, and wear yellow!

Group Ride: East Bay Bike Path
Join us for our first off-island group ride of the season! We leave from Independence Park in Bristol at 9 a.m. Check the calendar for more details.

CycloFemme Mother's Day Ride
Join Bike Newport, SpokesWomen Cycling and Women Bike RI as we celebrate women through cycling! This Ocean Drive 12-mile ride will begin and end at Fort Adams. Bring a picnic for afterwards! More details TBA.

Middletown Kids PMC
Join the kids of Aquidneck Island in the battle to beat cancer in our lifetime by riding your bike on one of three beautiful routes along and near the beaches of Middletown. Event details here.
