Our annual winter bike party!

It must be time for Bike Newport Night 2015!

If the frozen air is making us dream of warm oceanside rides, it must be time for our annual winter party - BIKE NEWPORT NIGHT 2015 is just around the corner!

BIKE NEWPORT NIGHT: The First Mile will take place on Thursday, March 19th from 6:00-9:00pm, once again hosted by our friends at Midtown Oyster Bar.

BIKE NEWPORT NIGHT is a fun-filled evening of great food, live music, raffles, indoor bike racing, and a super silent auction – all in the name of more and better biking. And it wouldn't be possible without our community partners, dedicated volunteers, and the fantastic team at Midtown Oyster Bar. Live music will be provided by the Slackwater String Band and Los Duderinos!

Every year, BIKE NEWPORT NIGHT proceeds fund a special project: 2012 funded Bike Instructor Training; 2013 funded Night Bright safety equipment; and 2014 raised money toward high capacity event bike racks (that will debut this summer!).

The 2015 theme is: THE FIRST MILE!

All funds raised will support the advocacy work needed to make the much-needed, off-road bike path in Newport a reality! This first section would start at the south end of the island's rail corridor, connecting the North End of Newport with the center of town. The path will provide a safe place for riders of all abilities, and the encouragement and convenience we need to get more people biking. City and State transportation officials will be on hand to share the enthusiasm.

Were you planning to attend Bike Newport's Annual Meeting? That twice snowed-out event will be happening at the event as well. Be on hand to help swear in and thank the Bike Newport Board for another year of service. How many board votes do you know that are accompanied by the sounds of Los Duderinos?

Bike Newport Night auction and raffles are a highlight of the night. Help make it a great success by donating exciting items. Contributors will be recognized on our web site, in our newsletter, in media outreach leading up to the event, on oversized posters at the event, in post-event reports – and with our undying love and gratitude!

To donate a raffle or auction item: Fill out the form at the bottom of this page and we’ll take it from there. Or, print one out and send it back to us. THANK YOU! Questions? Call or email Liza: (401) 619-4900.

Check out the beautiful event poster created by our friend, the bike-loving designer Steve Sabo - who also created our Giant Cycling Squid of Narragansett Bay.

We'll do our best to get the posters all over town – any help is welcome! Email Liza to lend a hand.

Don't forget to mark that calendar for March 19th –
We'll hold the oysters for you.
Meanwhile, ride safe. Ride Happy. Bundle up and ride!
