Non-Sanctioned Liability Insurance for Certified Officials

At the Annual Meeting, Irene Herman of the Pacific Association provided a brief history of how we obtained this policy, which was over 7 years ago, that there was a need for officials to be able to be covered for officiating in high schools, organized activities, i.e. boy and girls clubs, catholic leagues and colleges. The policy period is from November 1 to November 1 of the following year. Each association contributes a portion and USATF picks up the balance of the premium. Medical payment is excluded. Officials must be certified and their USATF member current to engage in these benefits. Starters, even though they get paid, are covered.

This policy summary is now posted on the officials website.

USATF Membership

If you’re not a member of USATF for 2016, you’re not a certified official for 2016. Remember that your USATF officials’ certification requires a current year USATF membership, and that your 2015 membership expires at the end of December. If you purchase a membership annually, renew yours for 2016 right now by going to https://www.usatf.org/membership/application/. Consider purchasing a membership for multiple years to save a few dollars, and so you won’t have to remember to do it every winter.
