William Parker's In Order To Survive
at (le) Poisson Rouge, NYC
Tomorrow Night (Thur, Sept. 21) !

"One of the highest caliber jazz bands in the world today" and a live performance therefore comes with thee highest recommendation to attend.  This engagement will be one long set: 7:30pm (done by 9:00pm). This mighty group's breathtaking two-night stand in July at ShapeShifter Lab featured all new compositions (not even present on the brand new album, Meditation/Resurrection).  Both nights truly were at a next level and provided a sustenance so very necessary in these times.  Read this review of the first night in July.  And expect as much, or more, tomorrow night!

AUM Fidelity finally up on Bandcamp (!)

For some time, this has been on my rather long short-list of things to do.  Finally got it together and put the brand new releases (and select other recent ones) up in August.  And, as this past Saturday, September 16 was the 20th (release date) anniversary of the first two AUM Fidelity releases – being David S. Ware Quartet's Wisdom of Uncertainty and William Parker & The Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra's Sunrise In The Tone World – I've been posting the whole AUM catalog in chronological order on the daily install since then.  Everything should be up by early November.  It's been gratifying to begin revisiting / "re-releasing" the past 20 years, and a great way to have long out of print titles available again in the full-resolution / lossless way in which they are truly meant to be heard.
Do Follow AUM up there and stay tuned..

Darius Jones returns (!) with a week-long residency
at The Stone, NYC : September 26–October 1 !

Man, it has been way too long since I've heard Darius play his horn live on stage (June, Vision Festival, w/ Farmers By Nature). But, he has been busy 'shedding, writing, and recuperating from knee surgery (all is on point there).  And, he is hitting big with this week-long residency at The Stone:
One Set Each Night; Doors at 8:30     Dig >>>

"I’m honored to be presenting a week of music at the Stone later this month. I’m looking forward to premiering new projects as well as two new compositions: one for improvisers on Sunday called “LawNOrder,” and another work in progress called “Cartilage,” performed in parts each night from Tuesday to Saturday. Also, I will be performing compositions by a few of my heroes like Roscoe Mitchell, Oliver Lake, Rahsaan Roland Kirk and others.

One of the things I love about music is being in the process of creation. The process itself can mean more to me at times than performing, so this residency is my attempt to expose that experience. I feel fortunate to share this music with a bunch of creative souls during this week of exploration."
