Bruce Pavitt remembers the Seattle invasion of Europe well. The eight days he spent touring the continent in 1989 with Tad, Mudhoney and Nirvana were kind of a transformative experience for him. You could almost say the whole era was a bit transformative for a lot of us.
Bruce is touring with his new photo journal and grunge micro-history of that eight days of yore he spent with the bands, Experiencing Nirvana: Grunge in Europe, 1989. As the founder of a label called Sub Pop, he's fairly familiar with the terrain.
He's an old friend from our Seattle stomping grounds and he's stopping by Ace Hotel New York tomorrow night to bring the school of grunge and indie rock to the decks in our lobby. It's the kind of class that'll have you hoping there's no recess if you know what we mean.
