Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

As we look back on another year, we realize we have so much to be thankful for!  God has faithfully met our needs through all of you.  We're so grateful for your generosity, your prayers, and for your love for us and for the Japanese people. Thank you all so much!!  May God richly bless you this Christmas!

Well, we are excited for Christmas!  Emily comes home on Dec. 19th!  As much as we are looking forward to being together again as a family, we realize that Christmas is much more than another excuse for a family get together and party.

Together we rejoice in the birth of the Savior of the world. Although Santa is a fun story, it's nothing more than that - a make believe feel good story, but Jesus' birth is a reality.  He is the true light, which gives light to everyone, who came into the world to give his life a ransom for many.  And He is the true treasure of Christmas.  This is the message we want to bring to our Japanese friends.  Will you pray that they will understand this truth?

We are looking forward to our Christmas Piano Concert on the 23rd!  Angela's tea teacher, a few fellow tea students, as well as her neighborhood English class students are planning to come.  We are hoping for a good crowd, but more than numbers, we are hoping for God's blessing on those who come - that they will understand the real meaning of Christmas and see that it is not just a holiday for Westerners, but for people all over the world.

To the right is a picture of J-Hope, our Jr/Sr high ministry.  We had 11 attend the Christmas party - more than ever before. It is great to see them beginning to have fun together and interacting well with each other.  Rei came and played the guitar for us so that was great!
This is our poster for our main Christmas event - a piano concert on Dec. 23rd, which is a holiday here. A pastor friend of mine will come and share thr gospel through music and testimony.
We had 17 at our Sunday School Christmas party. The craft activity was making a Christmas card. We were especially happy that 3 English students came. One of their mothers, Mrs. Takahashi, asked if her daughter could come to Sunday School.  She is showing some interest herself, so we're praying for this family.
Angela is having a Christmas party for a number of neighborhood ladies on Wed., Dec. 14th.  She is expecting 6 Moms and maybe 2 small children.  One lady is bringing a friend for the first time.  Angela would like to share the meaning of Christmas with these ladies, but with little kids it may be a bit hectic.  Please pray for relationships to be deepened and that they will be interested in understanding the real meaning of Christmas.

PRAYER REQUESTS

1) The Children's Blessing Service in November went well.  One English student brought her daughter and family.

2) The Bible Reading Club went well also.  The same 4 people came and were very enthusiastic.  This month(Dec. 17th), we advertised again so we're hoping for some new people.

3) Angela & I met with Mrs. W. again last month but I think she is not yet ready for regular Bible study.  Still they come to church every other week or so.  We continue to pray for her and her son.

4) FAMILY:
Joanna is working hard in 5th grade and continues with piano with a lot of encouragement from Mom.
Joshua took his first SAT recently and is currently enjoying basketball.  He was the high scorer the other day with 15 points!
Emily made it through her first semester of college successfully and will spend 2 weeks with us over Christmas break.

5) Annabelle & her husband have still not been coming. She is going away for the holidays, but will contact us when she returns.

6) We're happy to say that God has provided a host family for Rei!  Two in fact.  Please pray for Rei to grow spiritually during his time in the US.

7) For wisdom for Emily who still has to pick a major.
