CCPS Workforce Development Network Bulletin - February 2015

Welcome to the news bulletin provided by the Workforce Development Network, which is hosted by CCPS and funded by Scottish Government. The Network aims to work in collaboration with SSSC and other key partners in order to build workforce capacity and leadership in voluntary sector social services providers.

This month we have quite a short bulletin with updates on the Fitness to Practice area of the SSSC website and Yammer.  In our bulletin next month, please look out for updates on living wage and the results of the workforce benchmarking survey, amongst other vital workforce news.

More information about the Network can be found online -

In this issue:

Conduct Hearings and Decisions information now more accessible

Many providers will already be aware of the changes made to the SSSC website that means that information about conduct hearings and decisions is now much more easily accessed through the Fitness to Practice website area.  Whilst this makes a useful resource when organisations are reviewing their policies, procedures, or training and seek to improve practice and avoid pitfalls that may lead to a conduct cases, it is important to be aware that information being made public in this way can include employer name, service name as well as employee’s name.

How to Join the Workforce Development conversations on Yammer

People interested in Workforce development are encouraged to look at the Workforce Development and Planning Yammer Network. This network, supported by the SSSC, hosts a number of groups, each with a particular focus, for example Integration, Leadership, Practice Development, Self-directed Support, etc. Some groups are ‘open’ and others ‘private’ requiring a request to join being accepted.

It is easy to join and get connected with the SSSC and colleagues, share knowledge and find answers to burning questions:

Go to www.yammer.com/workforcedevelopmentandplanning and choose to sign up. Anyone working in the sector can join the community. This introductory guide provides more information on joining the conversation on Yammer.

Coming Soon - Living Wage Briefing Note

The implications of paying the living wage to care and support staff in residential care staff could be far reaching.  CCPS, Scottish Care and COSLA continue to discuss how best to implement the recommendations of the Task Force on the future of residential care in relation to the payment of the living wage to care and support staff.

A Briefing note will be published soon through the Workforce Development Network and the CCPS website generally. Providers are urged to keep an eye open.
