National Volunteer Week

April 10-16, 2016

We are celebrating National Volunteer Week this month and saying thank you to the more than 60 amazing volunteers, including our Board of Directors, who worked with us over the past year.  Without our volunteers we couldn't offer services like the Walk In Counselling Clinic.

We are very excited to announce a series of new Rainbow Parenting workshops specifically for LGBTQ+ families!  Thanks to the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, we have funding to provide a series of four workshops designed to address the unique challenges that may face the LGBTQ+ family.

The workshops are free and we will provide lunch.  Funding for babysitting and transportation is available within Waterloo Region.

Strong Moms, Safe Kids is a free parenting group for women who have experienced domestic violence in their homes and their children (aged 4-18). The group supports these families in the healing process and in regaining their confidence and skills. The group provides children with the opportunity to move beyond what happened in their family in a safe and therapeutic way.

The next 10 week group begins on April 13th and registration is currently open.

Our Walk In Counselling Clinic is open every Thursday from 12-6pm.

At some point, everyone will come up against a situation that is easier to manage with the help of a counsellor.  We are here to help with personal or job stress, relationship issues, addictions, grief and loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, separation and divorce, sexual abuse, coming out as LGBTQ+ and many other challenges.

Our fees are on a sliding scale based on income and no one is ever turned away based on an inability to pay.
