Hello Everyone and Happy Holidays!

Yes, we know our last newsletter stated January 1st would be the date of our next newsletter, but with our AGM held on the 12th, we decided it would be a great idea to let everyone know what transpired at the meeting ASAP.

First, a note from our new President, Jim Lemenchick.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing President Ray Vidler for serving 2 years as president.  We were very lucky to have Ray at the helm through a very difficult 2 year period.   Ray was very involved in all aspects of the business, and worked closely with Kevin Sebulski to ensure that the club was run as efficiently as it could be.   He also chaired the Special Committee of the Board which was formed in early 2017 to explore future directions for the RGC.  Ray will continue to be on the board in 2017.  Thanks again Ray on behalf of the entire membership.”

Also, I’d like to share Ray’s remarks about outgoing GM Kevin Sebulski -  “As everyone knows, Kevin will be leaving us after this weekend. I want to personally thank Kevin and Cheryl for their hard work and dedication to RGC over the past couple of years. It certainly wasn’t an easy task to take on the GM role at a time when competition is fierce and revenues are declining. I know each of you saw first-hand the hard work and leadership Kevin displayed on a daily basis, however, those of us on the board saw even more, from the way Kevin prepared for each and every board meeting, to his innovation and determination in achieving some very difficult budget numbers this past year. A true professional, who will be missed not only as a GM but as a friend also. Thank you Kevin.”  Truer words could not be spoken.  Thanks from all of us Kevin.

Jim Lemenchick

Joining Jim Lemenchick, Ray Vidler, Kevin Bossy, Mary Peer, Vi Rossy, Marc Latreille and David Gallagher on our 2018 Board of Directors is Kip Mulvihill. Leaving our Board, after 8 years of dedicated service, is Peter Barnes.

The other big news coming out of our AGM is that RGC has signed a letter that gives Miller Paving the opportunity to purchase a portion of RGC’s unused land at the top of our driving range. The purchase of the property is subject to Miller being happy with the suitability of the land for extracting aggregate. Severance and Licence Process could take up to three years to complete. RGC would like to recognize member Rick Desilets who was instrumental in making this happen.

Finally, Cheryl and I would like say Thank You to our board of directors who hired us two years ago and to all of the friends we have made during our time here in Renfrew. Although my mind is telling me it would like to continue for at least another season or two in Renfrew, my body has told me differently these past four months. We hope that the little social things we did here at RGC, like Friday Frolics, continue even in our absence and RGC continues to grow as not only a golf club but as a social club as well.

And if all goes according to plan, Cheryl and I will be at Bluff Point May 15 & 16 (yes, these dates are confirmed and we have all 18 rooms so we have room for 34 ladies this year) for the Ladies Overnight Golf Trip. As our friend Esther says “It’s bad karma to say goodbye, it’s just until we see each other again.”
