Happy Holidays Everyone!
Hello Everyone and Happy Holidays!

There may not be any snow on the ground, but RGC is in the middle of our holiday season!

Thank you to our awesome Ladies Section for organizing what may well be the largest Christmas Party RGC will host this year. 58 ladies joined us last night for a fantastic night of laughter, meeting old acquaintances and charity. All of our ladies were asked to bring a toy to the event and as you can see by the photos on our facebook page, our ladies and guests came through!  The Salvation Army will distribute the toys throughout Renfrew this holiday season.

Last night we said "Thank You" to our now Past Ladies Club Captain Mary Ann Abrams who has done a wonderful job of not only increasing participation in our ladies events, but also creating new events like the Latraverse-Sharpe Solheim Cup, an overnight golf trip to Bluff Point (which will happen again in May 2018), a day trip to Wolf Ridge and bringing back events like ladies member-guest. And we said "Welcome" to our new Ladies Club Captain Kim McDonald, who is now in her fourth term as Club Captain. We know Kim has a lot to do to match and surpass Mary Ann, but we’re positive Kim and her ladies committee will be up to the challenge over the next two years. And…we made sure the colourful shoes that Kevin sometimes wears will live on at RGC as Cathy McNally received a beautiful pair of ladies “clown shoes” that match Kevin’s blue and white ones. Cathy "McHappy" will be proudly wearing these shoes every Tuesday during Ladies Day.

It’s funny, out of our 170 or so members, we have 60 ladies and they organized a party that included 58 members and guests and had all of the above mentioned events. Out of our 110 men, we saw the overnight road trip cancelled due to lack of signups, member-guest cancelled for the same reason, we have no match play champions as teams were unable to complete five matches throughout the entire golf season and if it wasn’t for Rob Warren bringing around the sign-up sheet for the season-opening Lee & Larry Sharpe event, that may not have happened either. Maybe our men’s section needs a couple of volunteers to form a committee, like our ladies section does, to help Lawrence out and start planning and executing events. We all know that after every member event RGC holds the feedback is always, “What a great event, it’s hard to believe we can’t get more people out to events like these.” Is anyone willing to step forward and have our men’s section match our ladies section in terms of events and enthusiasm?

As we mentioned above, RGC is in the middle of a busy Christmas season with parties last night, tonight and tomorrow night. Check out our Facebook page to see what our banquet room looks like. Mel has done a fantastic job decorating and the gold and red accents she has created in the room go great with our gold chair covers and poinsettias.

And finally, a reminder to all RGC Shareholders, both voting and non-voting, our AGM is going to be held on Tuesday December 12th, a month earlier than usual. Time is 6:30 pm right here at RGC. Please make every effort to come out to hear about RGC’s plans as we move closer to our 90th anniversary in 2019.

Our next newsletter will come out January 1st.

Thank You for Reading.
