A New Name!

If you have been around our church for the last couple of years, and especially over the last 6 months, you are well aware that we are looking to change our church name.  I hope that you will be able to watch our online service this Sunday, as I will be re-casting the vision for our new name for any who haven't heard.  Simply stated, the reason for changing our name to Refinery Church is because we believe that it is where God is leading us, and that it will be helpful in our mission of reaching lost people with the message of Jesus Christ.  There is nothing that is more exciting than pointing people to Jesus, so I look forward to our name change with great anticipation!

In order for us to complete a name change, we need the support of 80% of the members of the church.  As many of you know, we were supposed to have voted on this back in April, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus.  For the last few weeks we have been announcing our new plan, with voting starting this Sunday, August 9, and ending on August 23.  We are asking members of the church to come to the building and vote in person if you are able to do so.  Between August 9-23, you can vote Tuesday-Friday from 8:00am-3:00pm, or on each Sunday between August 9-23, from 1:00pm-3:00pm.  If you are unable to vote in person, a staff member can bring a ballot to you for you to place your vote.  Please contact the office to do this.  If neither of these options work for you, you can e-mail your vote to info@christschurch.ca.  Your e-mail will need to read, "Yes, I support the name change." or "No, I do not support the name change."  Please note that e-mail votes will not be anonymous, as we need to keep record of who has voted.  Your e-mail vote will be seen by the e-mail recipient and by those conducting the vote count.

To launch the vote this Sunday, August 9, we are holding a "selfish potluck."  This is simply an opportunity for us to get together for lunch outside the church building, with appropriate physical distancing.  We are asking you to bring food and drinks for you and your family only, (thus the "selfish potluck!").  You will also need to bring your own chair.  Members of the church will be able to vote at this time.

I want to encourage you to click on the Refinery Church logo on this eNews.  It will link you to our website where we have a detailed explanation of membership and who is eligible to vote, as well as the voting days and times.  Again, so there is no confusion, the reason for changing our name to Refinery Church is because we believe that it is where God is leading us, and that it will be helpful in our mission of reaching lost people with the message of Jesus Christ.  I hope to see you Sunday, and I hope you will join in the excitement and anticipation our new name!
