JHSC News and Updates

Dear JHSC friends, families, supporters and partners,

Hard to believe we're halfway through the season.  Hopefully you've all been making time to play.  Many people have asked about Interim Executive Director, Mike Hammer's health.  After a surprise triple bypass surgery in late December, Mike is back in the office steering the JHSC ship.  He's feeling great and says he has a new "zipper" as a souvenir.  Program specific updates at bottom of newsletter.

Grasshopper Scholarship Challenge: An anonymous donor has pledged $15,000 annually to specifically support snowboarders of the JHSC with equipment, education and scholarships.  The Grasshopper name is from the Kung Fu TV series' “young grasshopper” reference.  We are featuring this generous gift to encourage you to support our JHSC Scholarship Fund.  JHSC must raise $50,000 annually to provide need-base scholarships to deserving young athletes and we are only $15,000 away from our goal!  We hope the generosity of the Grasshopper donors will inspire you to support our general scholarship fund.  Every gift, large or small makes an incredible difference and allows JHSC to provide high-quality training opportunities to young athletes of our community, regardless of financial means.  Click here to support the JHSC scholarship fund or mail a check to the address at the bottom.

New JHSC Vehicles: JHSC has officially retired our three oldest vehicles and we are in the process of receiving two new 12-passenger vans and a crew cab pick up.  Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, the Rot Foundation and the Colgin family, we were able to raise $50,000 in less than a week!  Additionally, JHSC has acquired a large van from St Johns Hospital which will be outfitted to be used as a shuttle and event vehicle.  She's affectionately known as "La Tortuga Del Norte."  There's a lot of room for logos on those stallions... please contact me if you'd like to learn about vehicle sponsorship opportunities- jmoran@jhskiclub.org.
